Yesterday morning, I had a whole essay mostly-written in my head. I thought it was kind of clever, and made some decent points. I was sitting down to write it when I saw Michael Orland’s tweets. And they just sort of stopped me in my tracks. Then I watched the YouTube of Adam’s If I Can’t Have You performance, and the moment at the end when he interrupts Ryan to thank Orland. It was only a few words. Only a couple of seconds over the course of the night. But so telling.

That night wasn’t the only time that Adam acknowledged the help of others in making his Idol performances what they were. And since Idol, it is impossible to count the number of times that Adam has thanked and acknowledged and put the spotlight on others, via Twitter or in interviews and when doing press. It’s such a part of Adam that it’s almost become a joke. “Adam, stop pimping everyone else and pimp yourself!” The fact that Adam does this constantly, without any seeming expectation for acknowledgement or thanks… again, it is so telling.

Adam’s choice is to go through life with gratitude and appreciation. Many have praised Adam’s parents for doing a great job at raising a polite son. And I agree that Leila and Eber are awesome. But it is Adam who chooses to focus on the positive. It takes a person of character and honor to acknowledge the people who help him along the way. When someone is working like a maniac to get ahead and fighting to earn one’s place in a ridiculously tough business, it would be understandable to be selfish and self-focused. Many celebs seem to feel that praising someone else detracts from their own success. That somehow it takes away from what they have if they acknowledge others’ contribution. It is rare to hear stars praising their peers.

Adam clearly feels otherwise. And when he shines a light on others, it reflects even more brightly on him. It may not be immediately evident, but he does get back what he gives away. As Orland said, “that stuff goes a LONG way. [W]ould do anything for him.” I have a feeling there are a lot of people like Orland, who have been on the receiving end of Adam’s graciousness and who are glad to support his journey.

As we continue on the path to Era 2, it’s sometimes easy to forget how many goodies we have had, and how lucky we are to stan someone like Adam. A couple of days without a tweet or a new pic can lead to nervousness or outright angst. Will the album be delayed? Will it sell? Will his songs get radio play??? Will Adam be as HUGE as he deserves to be? Will he be more famous than Jesus? Will he play Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar? Until Amazon delivers that crystal ball I ordered, I have no idea. But I have a new mantra…

Gratitude and appreciation. I’ll start with…

So what do the stars say.....

This is just a bit of fun. I do not have the information or permission to do this for real. So no intrusion intended. I also do not intend this to mock Astrology, Numerology, or any other mystical system reference below.



Western Zodiac Aries and Aquarius (sun sings only – that means this is just for fun):

The Fire of the Ram and the Air of the Water Bearer make a bright flame of partnership. The Aries enthusiasm and pioneering spirit will certainly be well matched by the curious and unconventional Aquarian.

This connection will be stormy and will bring a lot of new emotions. There is a chance that the Aries will be dominating, as the Aquarius is more passive. (Ummmmmmm???? I think this is not a problem)

The Ram is always called to the new and Aquarius will want to come along for the ride, just to see what's happening. As long as the Ram can generally lead the way, the journeys will be many and varied. The Ram is a creature of passion and feeling where the Water Bearer favors detachment and cruise control. (ummm NO!)

The Aquarian lover will give Aries plenty of room to take on everything as a personal mission, but depending on the weather, may or may not let the Ram take command. If the Ram starts issuing orders, the Fixed Sign stubbornness of Aquarius will reveal itself and tell the Ram just where to get off. The Ram can team well with a Water Bearer but don't try to take control.

Unpredictable Aquarius is very independent and likes to spend time alone, so he may sometimes feel neglected. Aquarius find this unpredictability exciting, but it does not let him feel entirely secure.

Both are idealistic and may even find a cause they share and can pursue. Both enjoy a vigorous exchange of ideas, though Rams can get a bit heated and will need to watch the temperature gauge during any debate over differences. In the end though, the Water Bearer will probably just watch with a measure of bemused patience a classic Ram performance of the 'quick to anger, quick to forgive' show.

The planet Uranus, which rules Aquarius, is unpredictable in its actions; therefore, Aquarians have a tendency to procrastinate too much to please the Arien "up and at ' em" characteristics.

They will find places to go, people to meet and hold many interests in common. Both prefer a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, so they can enjoy social activities together.

If both sides try a bit of tact & understanding, this great love affair could turn into something special. The Aries must be very tactful if he/she wants to deal with this extremely emotional dreamer.
