From yesterday but I figured I'd bring the talk here to today...
Personally, I really want to know who Adam is. I want to see him step away from all the songwriters/producers and create something from the ground up with minimal influence. THEN see what we get from him. *shrug*
Talon, I'm an Adam fan who rarely posts because your words could be my words. I am not really a fan of Adam's music. I am a fan of the man, but his talent is so much better than his music. I hope that someday he can find the right vehicle to truly showcase all he has to offer, but I have heard very little of that on either CD,.
Will he ever create music of the quality that Queen created in the 70s, when I was a huge Queen fan? Doubtful. That music came from a unique set of 4 very talented musicians/songwriters. But it was a different world then. Less single driven and I believe, less judgmental. There was a freedom in the 70's that doesn't exist today.
Adam obviously wants to have hits, and he certainly appears to want to be a pop musician. But he is an Aquarian. He will never be able to conform to the confines of any genre. He was born to be unique. My wish for him is that he always feels he has the freedom to make whatever kind of music moves him at that moment and that in 20 years time, he sits on the same lists as Freddie does as one of the greatest in the history of music.

You got it already. Trespassing. Adam is the sole "creator" of that album so to speak. The main writer, Executive Producer and Creative Director. HE LOVES POP. YOU MUST GET RADIO PLAY FOR POP. NO IFS AND OR BUTS ABOUT IT.
He loves collaborations. His Pharrell collab helped crystallize if this concept of Trespassing was strong enough to carry the album and how.

How do you not know "who Adam is" if you researched Trespassing. He ripped open his life of the last three years to make the thing vulnerable and autobiographical.
This must be some cultural Queen-ish thing. Are you also a Muse fan? LOL. sounds like they'd be your bag, too.
He's not egotistical enough to say he's this big ass grande songwriter and can do it all alone.
What are you expecting to hear with no co-songwriters, producers LOL?
He doesn't play and will NEVER write the next BoRhap.
He stated that his Queen gigs may further inform his future songs but for now, HE's the ONE who "invented" Trespassing nobody else. And he's very proud of it. Even if fans are forever expecting "more" of him.
Considering Adam did that in the pop world to the accolades of reviewers saying how surprisingly great the album is at being cohesive and telling a story with a beginning, middle and end I think he has reason TO be proud.
Those damn opera guys are SOOOOOO lucky they don't have to create their work from the ground up. IMAGINE! People actually PAY opera singers just to hear them gasp.....SING ::)
IMO it's one thing to take every opportunity to give your "down side" point of view about Adam, I guess. Even in the middle of our squee.
But it's another thing to not really know about your subject when doing so and making claims with inaccuracy. Such as Adam's work is the product of "writers/producers" that he's mysteriously under the influence of. Just basic Adam 101 knowledge, sorry, no shade.

It's very difficult to be an artist today, there is little time to experiment
and to grow.Everything seems to be about money, CD.. get it in ,get
it out.. disposable music.
I think Adam's music is really inspiring ,thoughtful , honest and hotly
enjoyable.
When I think of Queen and their great songs ,I also think about all
the music that hasn't been released or in some cases released and
not been well received. They have been at it for decades.
IMHO,Making music should be a journey of life experiences ,of testing
out different genres ,sometimes hints of favored artists.
Hopefully the creative process is challenging, educational and
sometimes even spiritual.
Adam is at the beginning of his stardom,as an artist, he probably will
try many avenues/genres .As a fan I love his courage to do so and
support his efforts. Some of his music will take me to another place
some might leave me with a WTF, It's all part of the ups and downs
of the creative process.. I hold to that infinity thing no matter where
Adam takes me.
Side note.. The Beatles music went from being influenced by African American artists,as was Elvis, to cute ditties,to pop ,to eastern type music and so on... They experimented with all types of music...
I hope Adam feels the same lack of constraints on where he wants to take his music.

A few random head-bangin' thoughts from night 2. 3. You know that grin you get on your face when watching Adam? The one after watching Vids and your cheeks hurt? That is Sauli watching Adam perform. He occasionally shakes his head and laughs out loud. He enjoyed show with his sisters. At one point, he wanted to leave and was blocked in (it was during it's a kind of magic), and he was standing by the back rail. He lifted himself up and balanced like a surfer or tight-rope walker on top of the rail for several seconds, showing off for his sisters, and then gathered himself and jumped gracefully to the ground with his head thrown back laughing. Those boys must have a lot of fun, j/s.
Thank you for this!!!!! Adam and Sauli are a great couple.
In my case it's more like a grin + loud laughter + bopping and fidgeting in the chair + covering my eyes occasionally + screaming, AND, most embarrassingly, talking to him : 'i can't believe you just did that', 'turn around, turn around', 'oh, I love you, Adam!!!', 'omg, you're smiling, you're happy'... that sort of thing.
Have you ever imagined yourself being interviewed? I have, with one question only: Why do you love Adam Lambert? I can talk, in English, without breaks, for an hour. *that's what i do when i'm alone in the house*
Anyways, today is very special, it should be celebratory and festive. It's the last concert of this amazing collaboration, which has changed all the participants: not only the ones on stage, but the audience as well. It has brought some serious reassessment and self introspection on all sides. The Adam Lambert Effect.
Maybe they have prepared surprises for tonight, and I have thought about that, from special guests to performing an Adam song.
But then the thought left me, when I imagine how happy everyone is going to be tonight, that tonight Adam can let himself think : We did it!, and it takes nothing else apart from that joyous, triumphant feeling to make this wonderful story finish with a bang.
I agree with swarm 10000%. I loved FYE but ADORE Trespassing!!! My 20 yr. old son, who is a fan of Freddie/Queen, Jimi Hendrix, Eminem etc. LOVES Trespassing and liked FYE.
Tomorrow's my last edition of the News Thread and the theme is "It's A Wrap"
I would LOVE to have any of you who went to the shows send me your thoughts to include on Page 1.
And for the rest of us butthurt Atopians who didn't get to go, could you send me your favorite vid OR Photograph of any of the shows (including today's show). Let me know which show your vid or photo is from. I hope I hear from some of you so this edition can be the collective work of AdamTopia.

I think Drakius has nailed it here. It WAS a totally different time when being a musician was far less about making the big bucks (aka "selling out" back then) and more about freedom of creative expression. In large part, this attitude was created by a political climate of rebellion but also because economically, times were pretty good. Now economic times are brutal and music is a hardcore business...Adam is in many ways, a corporation.
I think Adam creates very good pop music for what is considered very good pop music in 2012. Queen songs, they're not. Different genre, different era. Those guys were songwriting savants PLUS they had extraordinary musicianship in all roles. We've talked about how being onstage with them has elevated Adam's performance. These guys elevated each other.
It's lightning in a bottle. It just doesn't happen that often.
Adam is constantly evolving and soaking up knowledge and it will be interesting to see where he goes from here.
I will also say that at the very top of my personal wish list is that Roger and Brian would write some music for Adam to recapture some of that magical synergy...that would be AMAZING.
ETA: It's an interesting mental exercise to think about how well Queen would do if they were just starting out today and trying to get radio play in an era of Britney, JLo, Chris Brown, etc. Would their genius be recognized? It was hard enough for them back in the 70s.
ETA2: I always think it's tremendously helpful when people with new perspectives join the board and post, even if not everyone agrees with these opinions. Adam learns from everything; it's an example to follow.

Aww, Aleksandra, what a wonderful post, all of it.
But I especially liked the part I quoted: yes, tonight should be about celebrating the joy that this collaboration has brought to us so far. I choose to not think about "what will be" or "what would be," just try to enjoy to the full this special last concert.
