Topic: Applesauce
I use applesauce as a substitue for Crisco/butter in cookies and breads. Yeah I have old style recipies still. I've had a tendency to overdo it and think that no fat at all is needed and my oatmeal cookies haven't agreed with me. Best to substitute for half, not for all.
Thanks for the snap pea info. I'll have to look in the seeds section at the store. I had Kale in my salad today. I think I'll have to tear it up into even littler pieces as it packs a wallup in taste. I have been trying it grilled with the olive oil/garlic powder process and still working on how long/hot to get the vegetable cracker taste/texture down right without buring. The aspargus I do at the same time is coming thru well.

Sorry for the delay in checking in for the Weigh In. My weight's been bouncing all over the place since I came back last week - and that's on the good gym scale as well. On Thursday I was down 6 pounds so I added more points on Friday in the shape of Brazil Nuts and some of the Caribbean Rum Cake I brought back from my trip plus took a day off from the gym because both knees are killing me for some reason. Sat. morning I had swung back up 4 pounds!!! Just got back from the gym and am down again - this time to where I was before I left on the cruise.
So let's just say I'm holding at 20 pounds off since I started and am hoping for some stable losses next week. Still aiming for 50 pounds min. by summer though today I'm really having to fight temptation.
The free fruit points in the WW plan is a godsend for me because I took care of today's cravings for a DQ Blizzard by having 1% cottage cheese with tropical fruit. I out berries on my Fibre 1 cereal and always have a fresh fruit salad ready to go in the fridge - right beside the raw carrots!

Topic: Check-in day
Amazingly Monday I was down a pound. We'll see if that still holds true when I weigh in this morning when I pop back on board. All of February and into this month my dad has been semi staying with us. It stresses me out, stresses my DH out and I always gain weight. I was down 4 before he came and went to plus 2 at times during his stay. But thanks to you guys it's not as bad as normal.
Melisende, I want pictures. You always have great suggestions and I'm a visual person. What kind of tropical fruit?

weighing in...one more lb. lost this week, total now 13. One more week to go to make my goal of 15! back on the topic of hummus...the Sabra brand is as good as any I ever made myself. My favorite flavor, Greek Olive, is delicious with red pepper strips for dipping (and a glass of wine).

Great job guys! I have nothing to report since I abandoned tracking my measures of progress a while back. I did get on the treadmill yesterday though and am actively spring cleaning. I'd say I'm holding steady despite ups and downs in the healthy eating department.

Well, I'm down about a pound today, but I'm bouncing around like crazy, so it's confusing. Have been doing WW religously, so can't figure out why.

Topic: Massage
Yeah, not food, but relaxation and supposedly the release of lactic acid. I have some prepaid for and I think today I'm going to use one.
Thanks flowergirl, I added your hummus brand to my shopping list. I so jealous of everyone who is reaching their goal. Way to go! I forgot to weigh yesterday but today I'm down 2 so I'm just getting all started again.
Stardust, how is your activity level? Mine has been zilch as a 2 week cold put me out of both walks and my indoor pilates. But my kid has started up track so Imma doing walking laps during part of his practice while I'm waiting to pick him up.

Topic: Raspberries
I'm not sure why they are the size of strawberries anymore. The ones from the store I usually put in sugar milk and soad for a while. Ones I pick work pretty good in my cereal. DH isn't fond of them in shakes as he doesn't like the seeds. Can be mixed in a slurry. Fairly versatile.

So great to hear all those pounds dropping off! I don't know why the scale bounces around like mad but I know it's one reason WW encourages people to only weigh once a week. I started out staying off the scale but do get on it most days now - esp. after a bad day like yesterday. What's so odd is that even after using about 70 points (finally caved in and had a Blizzard for a whopping 33 points) I'm down 1# this morning but might be up 3 or 4 by tomorrow.
Anyway, at my last Weigh-in on Thursday I was down another 1.5 pounds for a total of 23 pounds. Still a long way from goal but headed in the right direction.
For my fruit salad I always use pineapple, oranges, papaya, mangoes (if I can get some good ones), grapes, sometimes a banana or kiwis and seasonal fruit like perhaps peaches. Nothing that will discolor or get smooshy and messy. For the dressing I mix lime juice with Sugar Free Coconut syrup. You can use the mix for Points Free smoothies as well. My son makes them with ice-cream.

Hi everyone. I just got back from a week in Utah. Beautiful, beautiful place.
Alison, ask away on the garden questions. I'll be planting some things this weekend. Have to wait until then because it f&*king snowed today - YUCK.
Jablea, you can make your own applesauce without adding sugar. I'll put the brief recipe in the recipe thread.

sugaree, thanks for the applesauce recipe. Looks easy enough even for me. Pickling spice keeps coming up in the recipe thread so I'm writing that down on my grocercy list right now.
I picked up some hummus, and red peppers via flowergirl's recomendation. I need to get with it and cut my pepper up so I can try it.
Melisende, I think you are endlessly creative with your points. I need to lump all of your posts together and reread again and again.

I stayed the same this week so didn't quite make my goal...but I'm going to keep at it and lose a few more. I never would have done it on my own but here I am, 13 lbs lighter, exercising every day, and eating healthy! THANK YOU jablea for starting this thread. Enjoy the hummus and don't forget the glass of wine and Adam GNL playing in the background!
