This LA Times reviewer reminds me of one of my dad's favorite sayings: "It's better to be quiet and have people think you're an idiot, than to speak on something you know nothing about, and remove all doubt."

That negative LA Times review has turned into a WIN for Adam and Queen in my opinion. The comments are pure gold and most have been written by Queen fans not "us". Many of them have apparently been deleted because it still says "45 comments" and there were at least that many when I first saw the article. You can sort by Newest, Oldest, Most Liked, etc. When you sort by Editor's Picks none come up. If there was any justice LA Times would fire that reviewer, but I bet he's gonna get away with it. It's not that he wrote a bad review, it's that he was unprofessional... my 2 cents...

I wouldn't like to see anyone fired but they should take him the heck off of rock concert reviews & keep him confined to the stuff he apparently knows - pop pablum.

Veronique ORCEL @veroniqueorcel 35m @adamlambert fb.me/2pQ1s9qnlMatteo Bitetti 39 minutes ago · Edited Recap on the July 3rd Queen + Adam Lambert concert. I've read all the reviews in the various papers and the responses from the fans (the LA Time's review not so good). That said, I am not really a supporter nor am I a fan of Queen, or Adam Lamert for that matter. I am just a singer and a purist when it comes to the vocal arts and those who approach their musical medium (whether it be rock, opera, or musical theater) with technique, talent and true intent. Having grown up with both opera and Freddie Mercury, I understand what it takes to be that good -- as good as Queen was and is with Adam Lamert singing Queen's music. Hell, even Freddie had difficulties singing the soaring lines when he was not in such great vocal shape. Adam Lambert's voice is well suited to the music that was in Freddie's mind. His vocal facility does not lack in any way the ability to reach what Freddie often could not. It was a pleasure to hear that and I was definitely happy to be in the audience that night, as performances like what I saw are somewhat rare these days. Bravo Queen + Lambert = excellent!

I am not a professionally trained dancer, but I have done a lot of ballroom & latin dancing, and amateur competitions, and I am pretty sure someone has taught Adam proper dance moves. And he must've trained and practiced as well. You can see it in the way that he moves. It's his fluidity, the balance, the proper way to do spins, the way his extends his arms to make a good shape. Sometimes a few 'classic' moves from dances I know sneak in as well. I've seen him do salsa, and lately also some poses that look a lot like paso doble. And he posted a short vid in which he did a jive-like dance with ashley some time ago. He positioned his arms just right, definitely looked as if he'd done that before. Doesn't say anything about whether he really had ballroom/latin training, but at the very least he was taught how to dance, and how to dance with somebody as well. That and I don't think he'd even have such great stage presence without having taken some form of dance lessons. Even when he's just standing or walking across the stage, you can see the fluidity and balance. I don't think I've ever seen him stumbling across the stage. His every movement is purposeful, and he is in full control of his body-which is what dance teaches you. Also, dance teaches you that movement is nothing without stillness. And Adam can do those dramatic still poses like pro dancers do.

It's known on Broadway as being a 'triple threat'.. You have to be able to dance, sing and act, even if your are in the chorus line.. So Adam was never on Broadway ,but he did do touring companies on ship & in LA.. so he proabaly had some fundamental training while in a musical...Kind of what Paula did when she had #8 do a mild dance number.. He most likely already started learning some dance moves as a kid, being heavily involved in a children's theatre group and in his high school they had something called 'air bands' competitions -- there's even a video somewhere of a performance (called War or Raid or something) where Adam was featured as the main dancer, so.... You're right I forgot about that
