I was just thinking about Leila and Eber. Do you think they look at Atop? How else will they get all the info. They must be so full of pride and emotion! Well, Eber lurked at TWoP and even answered a few questions back in the day so I wouldn't be surprised if he had an account here. How often he looks in is another thing- Twitter probably tells him more than enough

I loved that rousing rushonrock review but disagree with this- I like that it is Queen + Adam Lambert and think it should (and will) remain so. Adam is not "Queen"- he is Adam Lambert and deserves to have his name featured EVERYWHERE. TOTALLY AGREE!!! I think that the UK reviewers are having a tendency to be much harder on Brian and Roger than others have been. Strange, how once upon a time I would have been cheering such support of Adam but now I'm finding myself feeling very defensive B & R ( Tactless ??? ) at a couple of the assumptions they seem to have made in the writing of these reviews. I think they are mostly very new to the workings on this partnership (I use the word advisedly

I can't believe this is happening! After 6 years of following Adam and being puzzled as to why the rest of the world can't see his phenomenal talent they are at last getting it, at least in the UK. Now I'm actually happy that Adam did not have great success right from the start. If he had reached superstar status from his first album he may not have had the time or inclination to devote so much time to Queen and we would never have got to hear him sing these gorgeous songs. It seems impossible for him to get better but every time he performs he does!! Success is so worth waiting for! There are still people to win over. One of my daughters told me the other day he was fading away!! She has no knowledge of his touring with Queen outside of NA or the NYE gig. So I pointed out that he was the most googled person in the UK for the first 2 days of this year. She then said well he needed Queen to make it and couldn't have achieved that success on his own. There may be truth in that but I can't wait for this new album with the proper promotion to take the world by storm and turn Adam into a legend. I'm almost embarrassed to repeat this but when I pointed out that no one else has the range to cover the Queen catalogue she suggested Sam Smith!!! She thinks his range is just as good. I must be a failure as a parent. Okay, trying my hardest to picture Sam Smith fronting Queen! I just cannot do it!!! I have to laugh at the suggestion even!

The writer is forgetting that Adam is an independent artist with his own career away from Queen. And TBH, Brian and Roger have done EVERYTHING to make Adam be (and feel) part of the band.

I'm thrilled that these reviews are so very good!! I expect that the UK will be the toughest nut to crack on this tour. I expect that Brian and Roger may be a little nervous, too!

Former American Idol star Adam Lambert set to perform with Queen at Glasgow's SSE Hydro Jan 14, 2015 17:02 By Beverley Lyons
THE star kicked off the rock legend's European tour in Newcastle last night and will tonight wow Scots fans as he interprets many of Freddie Mercury's greatest hits.
FORMER American Idol star Adam Lambert takes to the stage of Glasgow's SSE Hydro in just a few hours to perform with Rock legends Queen.
The star kicked off their European tour in Newcastle last night and tonight will raise the roof as a follow-up from their massive tour of North America last summer, which also saw the group visit Australia and New Zealand.
The band just boarded their private jet from Newcastle and are expected to enjoy some days off after their gig here before their heading to London on January 17.
As fans prepare to watch Adam interpret many of Freddie Mercury's greatest hits we thought it would be fun to dig out a chat we did with Adam when he first came to Scotland.
In it we even have the pleasure of speaking about his kilt... And touching his sporran.

I have the same thing with one of my daughters...I have given up telling her how I feel about lots of things... LOL Oh, Melliemom, you are so right! Some moms are the same way, lol. For example I went to see Queen this summer and I just left out the AL part. Back in 2009 when I mentioned him she wanted me to watch Susan Boyle. My son is just as bad but he is at least impressed with the astrophysicist Dr. Brian May and that he's into Minecraft. I bought an eye of horus necklace and don't ask me how he remembers but he knew that was an Adam symbol. He gives me grief about it.

www.sparksunderland.com/featured/2015/01/queen-adam-lambert-review/QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT: REVIEWPosted on 14 January 2015 by Michael Oakes Newcastle | 14th January 2015 It would seem appropriate to start at the beginning of the night and work towards the end in chronological order. However, it only seems fair to start with a special mention about Adam Lambert and the seemingly impossible task of replacing Freddie Mercury in one of the world’s most successful rock bands. But of course, he wasn’t trying to replace Freddie. Freddie Mercury can never be replaced; Lambert recognised this in a special tribute to the legendary front man. “There is only one Freddie Mercury, ever. and I wouldn’t be on this stage tonight if it wasn’t for him” was greeted by a massive standing ovation from every person inside the Arena, creating one of many goose bump moments throughout the night. There seemed to be a feeling amongst everyone that this wasn’t just a Queen + Adam Lambert concert, but homage and a celebration of the life of the late Freddie Mercury. There was always a fear that the American Idol runner up would sound like a tribute act trying to be too much like Mercury. From the first note to the last it was obvious that this wasn’t the case. He had enough Freddie about him to portray Mercury’s style and on stage presence, but was also able to use his own personality to bring a unique twist on Queen’s hit-filled back catalogue. Lambert was charismatic, energetic and confident. As he crawled, grinded and dirty-danced all over the stage the crowd were mesmerised by his performance. But as well as this he seemed humbled, sincere and grateful for the opportunity he had been given. “Is this how you Geordies do it?” as he drank from a bottle of champagne, then spat it into the crowd made him immediately likeable. There seemed to be real, genuine chemistry between May and Lambert as though they’d know each other for years. “What do you think of the new guy” towards the end of the night brought another standing ovation, this time for Adam. As the crowd clapped and cheered, almost showing their approval, Lambert looked over joyed and almost emotional. It wasn’t just Lambert who was controlling the stage and engaging with the crowd. May ran the show from the first song IMG_0791to the last. The big screen showed images from his guitar camera as he ran around the stage pointing it into the crowd. He even brought out a selfie stick and took selfies with every section of the packed out crowd. 8pm, 15 minutes before show time, the excitement was starting to build. One particular excited fan started a Mexican wave by himself which went a few times around the arena before dying out as people once more switched their attention to counting down the seconds to 8:15. As a continuous loud drown played out, fans cheered at every sign of movement on stage. They were 8 minutes late. People were cheering, clapping and doing just about anything to get Brian and co on stage as quick as possible. Then suddenly it started, the 2015 Queen + Adam Lambert tour was under way. As ‘One Vision’ started the crowd went wild; the moment they’d been waiting for was finally here. The applause and cheer was so loud as ‘One Vision’ finished, it almost felt like it was the end. The first moment in which the crowd came together singing every word in unison, was ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ three songs in. As the easily recognisable baseline started, the crowd greeted it with huge cheer again. They followed this up with another hit, ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’. Following ‘Lap Of The Gods’ and ‘Seven Seas Of Rhye’ came the moment when Lamberts charismatic performance really came into its own. With a thrown waiting at the front of the stage, he returned wearing a crown and a cape for the fantastic ‘Killer Queen’. They continued to rattle out the hits. “We’re not going to stop” and “Does anyone ever feel lonely” were used by Lambert to cue into the next two songs, ‘Don’t Stop Me Now” and “Somebody To Love’. Next came one of the more emotional moments of the night. May came to the front of the stage with only a guitar, microphone and spotlight making him the audience’s focus. He started on a light note, reminiscing about playing at Newcastle City Hall before playing an acoustic version of ‘Fog On The Tyne’ which prompted a sing along. But then he started to play the beautiful sound of ‘Love Of My Life’ on his acoustic guitar. His voice was amazing, emotional and heartfelt. But he wasn’t alone. This was a duet. Freddie appeared on the big screen behind him, prompting one of the biggest cheers of the night. As he started to sing, you could be excused for having a tear or two. It was an emotional moment, which gave me goose bumps. Following this emotional moment, people needed some light relief. Roger Taylor’s son Rufus joined him on a stage for a Drum IMG_0770Battle. Taylor then performed a note perfect vocal performance of ‘It’s a kind of Magic’ as they continued to rattle off hit after hit. Then Lambert reappeared on stage following a brief absence to sing ‘Under Pressure’ with Roger Taylor. Arguably Lambert’s best vocal performance of the night came next as ‘Save Me’ and ‘Who Wants To Live Forever’ followed in quick succession. The set ended with Lambert’s because test of the night as he tackled one of Queen’s biggest songs: Bohemian Rhapsody. I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed this many people singing every word in perfect harmony. Freddie appeared for the final time as the concert came to a close. But that wasn’t the end. The encore saw ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are The Champions’ bring an end to a fantastic night before the show finally ended with confetti cannons firing gold paper into the crowd. No doubt it was a difficult decision for Queen to go on the road again with a new frontman. But it was never about replacing Freddie, it was about celebrating him and finding someone who could remind fans of his special talent. They’ve found the perfect person to do this. Last night was a great show, a great night and a great celebration of Freddie.
