From the comments, it didn't seem like it was the Idol stigma, but that she is better than most other singers. Pablo Rodriguez • 8 hours ago Who wants to get out-shined. I'm not even a Kelly Clarkson die hard, and I know she can vocally smash some of these bitches without trying, lol. John Blaze Pablo Rodriguez • 6 hours ago Me and a friend discussed this a while back and thought the same thing, even before she came out and said this! lol Who the hell wants to get ROFLStomped by a singer who could read a fucking grocery list, and slay that shit!? lol I would say no too honestly, and be like, nah I would prefer to sound like a good singer so I will NOT be having our voices side by side, Kelly. Thanks tho! <3 lol rudyxxxromero . • 4 hours ago Not a Kelly Clarkson fan....but agree with both of you completely. She does have talent other pop artists dream about. They would have to dumb down Kelly's voice with autotune for some of the artists out now. Dont get me wrong, I do love me some crappy voices. We agree llantes got our secret vices. These are fan comments, not industry insiders, so they have no real knowledge of why Kelly has difficulty securing collaborations -- this is all just speculation. They could be right -- it might be too intimidating for some people to sing with her. However, it is also possible that there is a lingering Idol stigma. It can't be her lack of success -- she's had a ton of hit records. I do not think Kelly's lack of collaborators is because of Idol. I think she is terrific and she is certainly commercially successful, but that is different than being a perfect collaborator. I think it may be a lack of fit. 1. Kelly is pop-rock with pretty much no edge. So eliminated any alt, contemporary rock, hip hop, dance, pure pop, R&B, rap artists. That pretty much leave country collaborators and that is really competitive. 2. Kelly's fans are no longer that attractive as music buyers. She won Idol almost 14 years ago. Her fans are now not prime music-buying age. 3. I had seen her live a couple of times, and she is a very good singer but lacks stage presence. I have a similar reaction to her on TV. JMHO there are many singers who could hold their own with Kelly on a recording. Kelly is excellent but she is not the only good singer out there. But I actually cannot think of a great collaborator for Kelly. ETA: She also has earned a reputation of being very difficult to work with. It may or may not be true. If you want to comment on the IDOL STIGMA that is Adam related. If you want to comment on Kelly Clarkson, please take it to a Kelly site. I will note my original post accordingly. Q3

hoho.. I like how upfront she is:
Kelly has an awesome voice....and that awesome voice is as you say is often OUTSPOKEN AND UPFRONT. I was darned pleased when Kelly took TSwift to task over Taylor's diss on Idol singers...Kelly retorted with..."Idols not only sing the high notes...but.. .the right notes." I was darn pleased she stood up for Idols. But dear Kelly can also put her foot in her mouth...ie. dissing Ryan Tedder very very publicly....for writing a hit song for her that had a melody similar to Beyonce's Halo. Ryan's reply was something like ....your welcome for me creating a hit song for you. She also fired her guitarist in the middle of a concert....guess it happens...and I know nothing of the history....but she does seem to have a little volitivity behind that cute smile. ( I think Adam fired a sound guy after a performance ....he does not get a free pass.) Then re times like the statement above....saying she does not want to collaborate with those who have crap voices. There are any different ways off saying the same thing. Kelly's lack of filter does not always serve her well. Many pop/ country singers have quite a different style than Kelly. These thoughts are a few guesses as to her not finding it easy to find a collaborator. Allow me to shed some light for those who might not have followed Kelly: The Ryan Tedder song wasn't just a similar melody from Ryan, it was the entire track just with different lyrics overlaid. Ryan and Kelly wrote Already Gone together and then he wrote halo for Beyonce using the same track and Beyonce released Halo as a single and had a smash hit with it and then RCA made Kelly release Already gone when she didn't want too do. Yes Already Gone was a hit and it all worked out but that doesn't mean Kelly didn't have the right to be pissed and to voice it. Kelly isn't a wallflower. She won't be pushed around that's for sure. She fought for the release of her third album and went against Clive Davis to do it. The girl is a fighter. It's one of the things I always liked about her honestly. In this industry women are expected to play nice and go along to get along and Kelly stands up for herself. She fired the guitarist in the middle of a concert because he apparently did something really disrespectful to her fans during the show (flipping them off or something). There is a nicer way of saying that not everyone is the industry is a great singer but why sugar coat it, she didn't name names.

But I actually cannot think of a great collaborator for Kelly. ETA: She also has earned a reputation of being very difficult to work with. It may or may not be true. Q3 I was a Kelly stan before I was an Adam stan I just have to say your post made me seriously laugh. 1. Kelly has collaborated with Reba McEntire and Jason Aldean and she had pretty big hits with both. She's also collaborated live with Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Rascal Flatts, and probably some others I am forgetting. She has sung live with EnVogue, John Legend, and Adam Levine. Kelly doesn't need "edge" because she's got the voice. 2. Kelly fanbase goes so far beyond idol and her winning idol is a long forgotten piece of history. and because I've seen Kelly in concert I can tell you that her U.S. fanbase skews younger than Adam's does. Kelly makes pop music which gets played on Top 40/Hot AC radio. Her music buying base is exactly what an artist wants because she actually still has pretty decent sales (her last album sold over a million copies and won the Grammy for best pop vocal album). 3. that's a matter of opinion. She has improved over the years but I always found her to be quite entertaining on stage and her personality is one of the main reasons (besides her voice) that she won idol. She is down to earth and funny. as for the supposed "reputation" she has earned that is one rumor I have never heard about Kelly and I've been a fan since the first time she stepped on the idol stage. I know there are fans of other idols who like to say she's a nasty person but I've never read even one thing about her being nasty and radio djs and other media outlets seem to love her. NOTE: Please keep the discussion focused on Adam or things related to Adam. If you believe that Kelly's issues "do" or "do not" relate to Idol Stigma and that that will effect or not effect Adam, that is OK. Thanks, Q3
I responded to your post Q3, nothing in your original comment had anything to do with Adam

There are a bunch of people I'd love to see Adam collaborate with. Not sure miss Kelly is on that list (even though girl can sing). I think Adam should give lessons in how to throw shade in a nice way :-) his tweets could be a university course on their own for that topic.

I would like Adam to collab with Katy Perry. I know some think pfft she is not even in the same league vocally. But collabs don't always have to be best voices stylistically speaking. Some times different voice styles work the best. And think about the people Adam would be exposed too. Adam actually has tons of younger fans, although he gets the rep of having older fans. His fanbase is very diverse. Katy has 40 or so million followers, although only 17 of those 40 are real people apparently. She has always liked Adam. OR how about a Taylor Swift collab? haha she maybe too vanilla for Adam. Glamcats? haha anyway. As for Kelly she is a good singer, but I don't think people not wanting to collab means she is difficult to work with, maybe people don't mesh with her style e.t.c. I don't know.

You've got to be kidding right? Taylor Swift????? Please God NO, NO, and NO. Did you see how bad she was, I think at the Grammy's or one of those award shows when they paired her with Stevie Nicks. It was gawd awful, Taylor could not sing in tune to save her life. I really felt sorry for Stevie, and she kept giving Taylor the side eye, but TS was just oblivious to how off key she was. I don't want her any where near Adam, JMHO! Now Katy is another story, I do think that would be a good collaboration.
