Post from QOL.. Bringing this from Peter Richard Leslie Freestone's facebook as there were discussions earlier about his opinion on Queen + AL "Ok, I know I risk losing some facebook friends and starting a verbal war, but last night I saw Q+AL for the second time in as many weeks and was really happy to have been there. Last night I was surrounded by 16,499 friends, fans and strangers who nearly lifted the roof off the O2 Arena here in Prague. I know Freddie is not on the stage, please believe me, I know, but I witnessed a great show. Queen, for me, were always about the show, and they are really producing the goods. And I for one, am so happy to see the smiles on the faces of Brian and Roger. Every opera has always been created around a specific person's voice. If the music stopped when that person couldn't perform any more, the opera scene today would look very bare. Surely it is the same for any good music, it is there to be interpreted so that the music can go on. Adam Lambert gives a valid and very good interpretation of Queen music, never trying to imitate, just giving his all for the music of QUEEN. p.s. I will not be getting involved in any discussions on this post, I've seen what happens on other pages ;-) " I want to give Mr Freestone a big hug. To go to the show twice says a lot about him and how open minded and open hearted he must be. And his followers are very positive! It is just shame that so many other self-professed experts aren't as able to see the positives to this collaboration.

That's Another Adam tidbit that is interesting - something maybe for our voice people to comment on. (highlighted in red above) I was very fascinated by that. It tells you where his hottest sympathetic harmonics may be in his voice. Where his natural resonance is strongest.

I havent read what happened on other queen-pages, but from what i can understand from the post above me, luckily this poster got lots of love for his opinion but there are also many "haters" for the QAL collaboration.
Or course: everyone has their own opinion whether they like the collaboration or not, but i think it is really a big shame that people are "afraid" to write their opinion and even losing facebook friends. Come on people: Music is Love!If you don't like the collaboration: qatch a DVD with Freddie, listen to the old Queen Cd's, really it is ok. ANd if you do like the collaboration: go to the concert, watch the YT clips
Yesterday i read the following on a Freddie Mercury site: "Ten days before Freddie died, Jim Beach, the band's manager, met with him to discuss what could be done with his legacy. Freddie quipped, "You can do whatever you like with my image, my music, remix it, re-release it, whatever "just never make me boring"."
And i think this collaboration of Queen and Adam is living up to that wish of Freddie.

The fact that he went not only once but twice speaks volumes to me. He sounds like a great guy.

There was a great post on Adam's vocal technique at the end of yesterday's daily thread. adamtopia.com/post/589929/thread I went over and read the other posts from IDF, and they are very interesting. If you are interested in the technical aspects, give it a try (link in the atop post). One quote made me smile, and I totally agree: "However, the thing to remember with singing is that there is one way of doing it right and about a million different ways of telling people how to do it!" Adam had some very good coaches and teachers.

And i think this collaboration of Queen and Adam is living up to that wish of Freddie. This guy is Peter Freestone, Freddie's former personal assistant. He was with Freddie for many years, so this post is quite significant, IMO. He had the inside track on Queen when Freddie was alive. I'm so impressed by his open-mindedness.
