Well, IMO there's a lot of hubris in that exec interview- things like "But they want to be curated to -- they want to know what to like. They're not searching for it, they need to be told."Yes, I agree. That exact phase jumped out at me as "huh, do you actually know any 20 year olds?" The 20-somethings I know are the most adventurous and knowledgeable music discoverers I have ever met. Although I admit laughing a few times when they tell me about a "new" artist they have discovered from the 1960's - 1970's and they are shocked I have heard of them!

www.mtv.com/news/2102621/mtv-musical-march-madness-you-pick-artists/?utm=share_twitterMTV’s Musical March Madness Is Back And We Want You To Pick The Artists Competition kicks off Monday, so start tweeting #MMM with your picks! @mtvnews MTV’s Musical March Madness tournament is back! The sixth-annual event kicks off on Monday, March 16 with 32 bands and artists battling it out for the championship. Only one artist or band can be crowned victor of this bracket-style competition, but we’ll need your help deciding who will be included in this year’s tournament. Past winners have included Ed Sheeran, Tokio Hotel, Green Day and Palaye Royale, and while those acts are all eligible for this year’s tournament, we’re expanding our criteria. While in the past MTV focused mainly on rock artists, we’re now featuring singers and bands from all genres, BUT, they have to embody everything a rock star represents: the look, the sound and the spirit. Let us know who you want to see in the tournament by tweeting the hashtag #MMM with your pick, and make sure to check back on Monday at 9 a.m. ET to start voting in the first round of competition. The launch round which will remain open until Thursday, March 19. So start tweeting!

Q3, thank you for those great article that focus on streaming! I am ready!! There is a ton of info in these three articles -- but a couple that I found really important: This just confirms something we already know -- digital track sales, particularly iTunes sales, really matter in the US. It radio airplay does not result in people buying the music, the song will get less airplay. 2-3 weeks is not much time. JMHO -- Twitter INTERACTION with DJs, PDs and Radio Stations matters. What else matters SPOTIFY and PANDORA and the big streaming services.

Reminds me of a few years ago when my 18-ish niece, who had taken a liking to Paul McCartney's latest single, knew about his years as leader with Wings but was astounded to learn that he'd been in a "moderately successful" little band prior to that. (And to top that, she had never heard of John Lennon or Freddie Mercury!)

(And to top that, she had never heard of John Lennon or Freddie Mercury!) Too funny! But not just an issue for 18-ish people. Madamimadam did not know that the song Brian played in Liverpool was a Beatles song -- and tweeted asked the name of the English Folk Song Brian was playing. Madamimadam is a bit more than 18 years old. The Beatles have faded a bit in terms of recognition. I had a student who proudly "introduced" me to Deep Purple. Many of the students who work for me have a deep knowledge of music. Just on Spotify they have access to.... Number of songs: Over 30 million Number of songs added per day: Over 20,000 Number of playlists: Over 1.5 billion created so far I think everyone should know the Beatles -- but many people don't. But that music is 50 years old. It is the music their grandparents and great grandparents listened to. So makes sense to me. But I am impressed with how much the young adults I know, know about music -- going back to the 60's. They do not seem to have much interest in 1950's era music but do know classic blues. They are much more knowledgeable than I was when I was 18ish.

Then, she was busy collecting the recorded streams and YTs. I don't know when she asked that question, but I'd bet it was before she had a good listen to Brian. Starts with Brian speech. Mentions John, Paul, George, and Ringo. You've Got To Hide Your Love Away (Beatles song sing-a-long) Queen at the echo arena love of my life.cooper men www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7oxDo65-l4

What evidence do we have that the GQ Brazil was a cover shoot versus just a regular shoot? I looked back in the guys instagrams and yes, while he has done a few covers, he does more inside the mag the shoots.
Could be a Rock in Rio preview issue for example.
