Lots of great info today, thanks. One clarifying question for Glitter: If I have purchased a single (through either i-tunes or Amazon or both) and it now resides either physically on my PC (i-tunes library, etc) or alternatively on the cloud, but with ownership reference information available on my PC, can I then still stream that very same single by going through Spotify? Or does Spotify recognize my ownership and therefore switch to behaving like some media player on my own PC, and play it from there, instead of stream?
Spotify is a completely separate app from iTunes or the cloud and as far as I know it has no way of accessing your previous purchases and redirecting you to your media library to play music so even if you own a song/album on a device as long as you open Spotify to play the music it will count as a stream.
Although it should be noted that if you have a premium account with Spotify (which I do because I hate the ads) it gives you the option to make music available to play while you are offline. However, playing it offline does not count as streaming so you should make sure you aren't in "offline mode" when you want it to count as streaming.

After reading a convo between SusieFierce and Gelly earlier this morning on Twitter...I wonder Since Nile is on Idol tonite..I'm gonna watch for sure......then tomorrow his new single and video will be released and he's with Warner.......just wondering if maybe Adam's video might release the same day as the single....and if it might be on a day other than a Tuesday. The song and video at the same time might leave the fandom DED for sure. lol Susie Fierce SusieFierce 28m28 minutes ago So Nile's single and vid will debut tomorrow. On a Friday. It has been set for that date since announcement months ago. Gelly @14gelly 25m25 minutes ago SusieFierce So at this point how can we know if A's single will drop Tuesday or Friday Susie Fierce SusieFierce 23m23 minutes ago @14gelly We won't know until they announce but Derulo's debuted on a Monday. So did CRJ's. Riri's on Sunday. Itunes sales Tues is only rule Gelly @14gelly 23m23 minutes ago SusieFierce Ohhh so it could be any day really. Thank you! Susie Fierce SusieFierce 22m22 minutes ago @14gelly I do want vid and debut to be at same time though. I'm confused about "official" single release dates, too. A while ago, I saw a site that listed upcoming single releases and they were all scheduled for a Monday. Also, Kelly Clarkson's last single was officially released on a Monday (snippet previewed on the previous Friday). I know they're not with the same label anymore so her schedule doesn't factor in, but I bring it up because her single was also available for purchase on iTunes on that same Monday. It was not released to iTunes on a Tuesday. Also, it looks like Nile's new single from the upcoming Chic album will be available for download on iTunes tomorrow (Friday). The debut concert for the tour in support of his new album takes place tomorrow night in London, so it's also probably considered to be a "global" release, as Adam's was described. I'm looking forward to seeing Nile tonight on Idol, too! And tomorrow from 5 - 7 pm ET, Yahoo will stream the Chic show from London: screen.yahoo.com/live/event/chic

I have to wonder if the "official" release date for a song isn't the day it gets serviced to radio and not the day it goes up for sale on iTunes?
Used to be labels would release a song on radio and wait weeks to make it available for download (called suppress downloads) in order to build up demand for sales and rocket it to the top of the Hot 100 chart (back when the Hot 100 was purely based on sales). They don't do that anymore because now songs chart on Hot100 based on airplay AND sales (which is how a song can debut fairly low on the chart the first week of release and then take a massive jump the next week when it's first week sales are factored in).

So I guess Eber lied when they were asked on AI8 after "Satisfaction" if either of them sang. We have the proof now. LOL

Thanks. I was missing that piece of information, that Spotify itself has a feature to download songs to your PC. Did not know that. Makes sense that such a local play on your PC would not count as stream. I think, I will just not use that then.
================ Want to add to yesterday's Shazam debate:
I plan to totally Shazam Adam's song, the first time I hear it, be it on Radio or grocery store or whatever, but I see it more as an indicator of interest, rather than any streaming count, which may not be practical, depending where and when it happens. It's also just a one time deal, so not a major contribution.
It also sounds to me like WBM is planning a few things as part of their partnering with Shazam, and if any of that involves Adam, or is otherwise relevant, then we will hear about it and can react then.
================
Finally: Am I the only one who is confused, I thought Shoshanna was already in LA since Sunday/Monday? So, was yesterday's tweet about the upcoming media and promotion day not Adam related? Why is she tweeting now, that she arrived?
ETA: Just saw her follow on tweet that she is there since a few days. I guess, somebody else was confused too. So media day is for Adam.

Official release date of a song is the date it goes on sale. "Radio impact" date is the day the label wants it going for adds, usually about 2 weeks after the sale date. OFC, radio can add a song as soon as it is available, which usually happens with the big name artists. The optimal day, until the summer change to Fridays, for a single to be released is a Monday. That gives it 7 full days of sales for its official sale numbers. So 12:01 a.m. Monday morning, March 30th, right after Adam performs it at the iheart awards, is perfect!! Let me dream, people!!

Checkout the Moon Phases for April! "Waning crescent" on April 13th-16th. I am not implying that Adam would choose his single release based on moon phases. However, I do think his clues might be pointing towards certain celestial things, for us, so we can pin down the dates. Yes, and as I recall you picked April 14th as the single release date! If not sooner, I hope you are right! Thanks for the info that 100 streams (either audio or video) equals one DL certification unit for a single track. So in addition to audio streaming, if there is a music video on Youtube or elsewhere...that counts as well it sounds like. Do Spotify, etc. have video streaming, or just audio? Or would you need to watch like "Vevo" on Youtube? or something official on Adam's Youtube channel? I know that Q3 will advise us of all the details...where to go and specifically what to do and when.....and I should probably quit asking so many questions. LOL. ETA: So, now you think Monday March 30 !!! I'll dream of that scenario along with you.
