DIGITAL SPYAdam Lambert's new single 'Ghost Town' first listen review: CompellingAdam Lambert made pop history when he became the first ever openly gay artist to top the Billboard 200 chart with his previous album Trespassing back in 2012. He then continued to tour with Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor across the world, collecting positive reviews wherever they went, and proving - alongside Jennifer Hudson - that talent rules supreme even if you fail to take the American Idol crown. Nevertheless, during that time Adam has been away working on his own solo project too. For album number three he has teamed up with Max Martin and Shellback which, for those of you in the know, is a pretty big deal in pop. They have been responsible for some of the biggest chart hits behind the likes of Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. New lyric from digital Spy? . "It gets to a glorious middle eight that delivers an epic blow as the vocal reverb is ramped for full effect and Lambert growls: "Don't give a f**k if I go down." What is middle 8? I don't know this term.

Songwriting Guides Writing a song Middle 8 A middle 8 is so called because it is a section in a song that tends to happen towards the middle of the song, and tends to be eight bars in length. The purpose of this section is to break up the simple repetition of a verse/chorus/verse/chorus structure by introducing new elements into the song. This can be a new chord sequence and melody, maybe a big change in the arrangement of the song, or even an instrumental solo. These new elements in the song help to keep the listener interested in what's happening, much like a subtle twist in the plot of a novel or movie. Of course, there is no rule that says the middle eight has to be eight bars long, but that is the most common length. There are more lyrics hidden in this review: Essentially, it's a mood perfect for Adam's balance of glam rock image, soulful vocal and today's house music-dominated landscape. 'Ghost Town's verses are dusty and spacious, as Adam wanders through them with an acoustic guitar line searching for his Beatrice (figuratively speaking) within the Dante-esque narrative. "Saw all of the Saints lock up the gates/ I could not enter/ Walked into the flames, called out your name/ But there was no answer," he laments, before the chorus drops into a deep house bassline and stomping club beats.
Goosebumps!! I was waiting patiently before, but with all this buildup I am getting properly excited too!

From the Digital Spy forum: The middle eight is just another term for the "bridge". It is the bit that links the verse to the chorus. For example in Wonderwall by Oasis, the bit that starts off "And all the roads we have to walk are winding ......" is the middle eight.
