I just got back from several days in NYC. I was so hoping it would intersect with Adam some how but alas it didn't. We went for several days to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday. She is a fan but this trip was already scheduled with things she enjoys. We didn't try for the iheart concert because my husband already bought tickets for a show. We did try for the aol Build taping but were not chosen. We left this morning so that meant no B&N or GMA. I have never met Adam but it was nice to know at least I was in the same city! A comment on album sales in general. My husband and daughter wondered why would anyone buy an album when you can spotify any album you want. They laughed at me when I said I wanted to hold it in my hand. I think this is a very typical view of people today. They are the 21st century equivalant of piano player rolls.

Went to my local Walmart, and their CD section is pitiful. One end cap that had old, discount collections on either side, and a bunch of not best selling not new CDs on the front. No Adam, no JT, no Nate. In the general bins, under the label "Miranda Lambert" were two clean, regular TOH CDs. That was Tuesday, release day. Went back today and there was one left. But, really, there is zero possibility for a consumer to happen upon Adam's CD and buy it out of recognition or curiosity. One would have to be searching diligently for it. But other artists' offerings were not any better. They might as well be selling 8-track tapes for all that it is benefiting artists. It's a new day!

Double check your DVRs. Make sure you're recording!

I am going to listen to After Hours as I fall asleep.
I can really relate to this song because I have many times been upset/wired/anxious and just jumped in my car to get out of my head and drive it out. Long roads, night skies, it absolutely works. Texas has a long history of road songs, just ask Willie, but After Hours is definitely a California vibe so it is good to know that we have that in common. I can really imagine this song in a movie.
The progression of the song is perfect, in the beginning there is a little aggression but by the end the song you can tell that the drive has mellowed everything out. The wind blowing in my hair will be my ceiling fan but I will imagine I am behind the wheel of a Bentley driving the night roads as I fall asleep.

I have been impressed with how Zen Adam is about everything in his interviews. It really came through in the LP interview. I remember in another interview he said he is not worried about chart placement. He is more interested in people hearing the music and connecting to it. It made me think that maybe he has a different kind of deal with WB. His RCA contract was made with the old time idol big advances with pressure to sell a lot. I think WB knows exactly who his current fans are and how much they will buy. I expect that they signed him with the idea of building and introducing a new artist. That takes time but we know Adam is good at winning people over!
