You don't decide you are going to tour then announce dates the next day. I don't think Adam's statement should be taken so literal! Promoters, venues, dates, etc take months! IMO, they probably decided, last week, to announce it while they were there. Agree, they likely reached the everything is in place, ready to announce "pull the trigger" point. Or they signed the final contracts last week so they could announce it this week.

Not really! GT has been doing well there since it came out. The Voice appearance shot it up to #1, bit it's been doing really well. It went platinum there before he even got there! (70K) I think down under is a great place to start because they know these venues will sellout so it's great PR and it is their summer! Yeah.. I think I remembered seeing a twit that GT was in top 10 in iTunes for quite sometimes before this week promotion. GT was at #12 in AU for most of the week before Adam went to Australia. He was certainly going to go to Australia for promo. I think the timing was based on the Red Room concert with Jason Derulo. Once Warner had that, they just built the amazing promo.

As to the discussion here about the upcoming OZ tour, I just hope he is able to put together a real SHOW, a cohesive, entertaining, vocally brilliant, sexy, vibrant SHOW. It's what people expect. He has said he's thinking of some new ideas. I'm excited to see what he and his team finally come up with. I think it will be a real show -- something more elaborate than Morango. And I am sure that he will do more than just have smoke. I expect he already has lots of ideas - it's a matter of sorting out and narrowing down. After being on tour with Queen, and being exposed to the fantastical organization that runs that enterprise, it will be hard to think small. He must have been studying all the aspects of that tour, wondering what he can learn and apply when it's his turn. In his six years "on his own" and with Queen, he has met and befriended many of the best in the business. With the mentoring of Brian, Roger and Nile, and now the support of WBR, he has lots of great talent in his corner. But I'm most excited about Adam's excitement. Watching him sing TOH, we could see it. It's so great to see him like this!

Agree, they likely reached the everything is in place, ready to announce "pull the trigger" point. I wonder, since you said it takes months to get things arranged for a tour, how they decided on Australia because it was only this pass week we saw the explosion there for GT and TOH? Well a lot also has to do with how aggressively the promoters are at pursuing an artist. Dainty Group handled the Queen tour and it could very well be that they started pushing for Adam to come to Australia on his own tour as soon as they saw the response back then. The Aussie glamberts were very vocal with the promoter then so they had a good idea how much of the ticket sales then were fueled by Adam fans as well as Queen fans. Also GT debuted in the top 40 and has remained there since being certified Gold a few weeks ago and the album debuted at #4 and was in the top 50 for a month. There is also the fact that it is hard to get big names from the States to go down under to begin with so they work hard at making it attractive for the artists. Adam also mentioned something going on in Asia the they are combining the trip with and since Singapore is often a stop over on the way to Australia it makes sense for them to coordinate the Australia visit around that. We just don't know what that is yet.

A little ahead of yourself there Patti, it went Gold (35k) not platinum yet but I'm sure it will get there soon.
