Nice to hear your analysis, talon! I agree with you that it is more likely that Adam missed the first cymbal strike due to him holding the "die" note. That must have messed up the tempo of the song in Adam's head, that's why Adam (and Brian) recovered and came in after the first "save me, save me..." which was sung by the audience! However, one thing I don't understand is, what was Rufus running to? As far as I know, Adam's receiver is attached to his pants, and all the audio comes from the sound guy off the side of the stage. So then, what was Rufus fixing then? Ghost, do you ever find you feel how your avi looks...?

OK I weighed in yesterday before I got all the way through all the evidence but then deleted so I can add. I'm 95% I know the problem. I think it was a faulty monitor. I listened to the isolated vocals and I had my percussion friend listen as well and he agrees. QALs version of Save Me starts out VERY freeform. It starts out a cappella at the very very beginning, than Spike layers some keyboard strings underneath as the basis of the song but follows Adam very legato, not precise verse which is great and works well for the emotion of the song. Spike can follow Adam in freeform but the chorus has to be precise to everyone can be together. So it's up to Roger to get them together with the 3 cymbal strikes and then everyone comes in on the downbeat. Roger started with the cymbal track on time with Spike but Adam's "love you til I DIE" line (DIE being the important part) bleåd just enough over Roger's first cymbal strike and Adam misses it - at least partially due to a low monitor. So Adam is waiting for that third cymbal strike but Spike (who heard it), Roger, and Rufus go on and Adam is got left behind momentarily. Brian follows Adam for the first crash in. Adam knew instantly that he was behind Rog/Neil/Rufus/Spike so he stopped and walked back towards Rog so that he could get back in sync for the second part of the chorus. Brian knew better than to play and make it more obvious that there were no vocals so he came back in when everything was synced back up. Rufus went to fix the monitor on that side. Nobody really to blame - more the style to blame...ah well - live is dangerous. and 99/100 they'll get it right....but when they don't, they fix it quick :D Nice to hear your analysis, talon! So then, what was Rufus fixing then? Actually, I think this video shows Rufus the best at 1:19. It is the TV feed so the camera is focused on Adam so you can see a lot. My ears must not be tuned in well, because it sure sounds like Adam and Roger do hit that first beat, but nothing else happens, no one else is "on" until Rufus runs over & does something. Then it appears that a whole bunch of stuff comes on at once. www.youtube.com/watch?v=boXn1IGPD18&feature=youtu.beAdam should have sang Save Me with the first downbeat and then there should be the loud snare (that in the video Adam sings Save Me over) Adam seemed to not hear the first of 3 cymbal strikes to cue him (basically Rog does a 1-2-3 before the SAVE ME downbeat) and Adam heard only 2-3 and in his head was saying 1-2. I actually think (i don't KNOW this) Rufus might not have actually fixed anything - I think he ran to make sure it was working properly cause he wasn't sure what had happened to cause Adam to miss the cue....and why Brian wasn't playing. and made sure it was tightly in place. I think Brian saw what happened and knew if he played it would have sounded sloppier at that moment so he waited for Adam to get back into synch which he did really quickly and Brian joined Adam to come in for the second part of the chorus.

After Rufus fixed the / one of the problem(s) Brian starts his guitarpart immediately after Adam shouts out "Oeh yeah", like a cue for Brian. Also when Adam stops singing and turns around you can see him raising his hand and Brian's hand looks like he is going to his guitar but then goes to his face (like one would do with a missed high five ;o) The fact that we love to puzzle about what happened must show how rare it is that there is something going wrong at a Queen or Adam concert

So... Now that ALN gets pushed to radio in several countries..... When do we get the video?? So many good things happening all at once!!! My guess is that the US gets ALN and the video in 2 weeks! IMO, the video won't come out before the single gets "serviced" here. But I am no expert! ITA with this schedule. They will send ALN to the radio in the US within 2 weeks -- and release the video right before the US impact date. We should know the impact date soon and it is likely to be 3 - 7 days after they release the video. I do not know much about German radio -- so I apologize if I am misreading the radio charts there -- but I believe GT is in Week 16 there, #39 on radio and headed up. And #33 in Austria in week 6. So this may also be a consideration in timing. Shosh tweeted that GT had not peaked and referenced the US and Germany -- but I think that the video will be timed based on the North American radio impact date.

And this will probably be debated for 40 years in the future unless someone who was on stage explains what happened. But we have video evidence that Rufus fixed something and that there was no guitar playing and that Adam stopped singing. And Adam's mike did not go out -- he clearly stopped singing.

And it has to be within a few weeks, so those countries are not without a video for too long. Recurrency happens for GT on Oct 4th, so around then might be a good target date. BTW, did you all know that only 46 songs have gone recurrent on Top 40 all year?! It is a badge of honor to last 120 + days on the Top 40 chart!

On the great guitar mystery ---- Brian's guitar rig is very complicated. It is described in the article linked below... Brian May's guitar rig is as follows: Red Special > Greg Fryer Custom Treble Booster > Sennheiser wireless system > passive DI box (backwards) > Dunlop Cry Baby DCR1 > VCA Control pedal > Mike Hill custom-made rack-mount loop switcher > TC Electronic G-Force > Rocktron Intellifex XL > Hughes & Kettner Tube Rotosphere. Link: www.performing-musician.com/pm/jan08/articles/tt-petemalandrone.htmMy GUESS is that Rufus had to do something to turn the wireless system on again -- to electronically reconnect it to Brian's guitar.
