Glad someone was paying attention to this HUGE news!! I'm paying attention too but I only just got here.... You know that the stats aren't my thing but I'd be very interested to know how this compares to GT at the same stage.
Is this a quicker/ higher etc. and if it is, how much so? It's not really fair to either song to make those kinds of comparisons. GT was the first single off an album that wasn't out yet and it had a huge publicity splash so it made top 50 on HAC quicker. But also it only had 170 spins at the point when it made top 50 because that's how the numbers broke but ALN needed 235 to break top 50. There hasn't been any big splash for ALN or any big promo yet so it's path is going to be different than GT was. Don't get caught up in trying to make definitive comparisons between songs as far as chart path goes. GT's radio impact date was only about a week after initial release and it reached top 50 I believe right at impact date. ALN started getting play about 3 weeks ago but on only a few stations because most were still focused on GT through Halloween. Even for people who really follow the numbers, direct comparisons don't really work well so for those who don't really know what's going on it's even more meaningless.

Strife of Brian BRIAN May is a little miffed Queen never got asked to pen a 007 theme. The guitarist, 68, told me: “They should’ve given us a shot at the Bond theme ages ago.” Speaking at the Classic Rock Roll of Honour where he nabbed the Living Legend Award on behalf of his bandmates, Brian, pictured with Alice Cooper, revealed that Queen would have quit if it wasn’t for current frontman Adam Lambert, 33. He admitted: “We thought it was over. Adam doesn’t replace Freddie Mercury but he can do the stuff.” www.dailystar.co.uk/showbiz/goss/475441/Justin-Bieber-Selena-Gomez-Harry-Styles-Led-Zeppelin-Queen-Pixie-Lott-Vanessa-White … Sam Smith recently said he hated singing the theme song from Spectre, and he hated the song. If Queen and Adam got an opportunity to write and sing..it would have soared. Look at WWTLF.

Thanks, Rihannsu, I'm not one who follows the numbers at all.....just wanted a little insight into the excitement! Glad it seems things are looking good .

Sam Smith said he hated "Writing on the Wall"? On Graham Norton show he joked about how hard it was to sing because it was so high (he has to "grab his balls" he said). But I think that was just chat show chat. (I have really liked his hits so far.)
As for Queen and Bond - I am reading things that suggest Brian indicated any hypothetical Queen Bond theme would/would have featured female Britsh vocalist Kerry Ellis, but I don't see a quote.
