Well, it states "a source with knowledge says...", so I guess nothing is definitive yet. And I haven't heard anything from Radio FG (I have a ticket for thursday). It might well be cancelled, but at this moment I think nobody knows yet. By the way, I wasn't going anyway, because something came up that I had to do on Friday morning. It does feel very weird now that I was supposed to be in Paris next week.

No reason to duck -- no reason to run. You make a really good point. We have been through this before -- it is very hard to separate what should be cancelled for safety, what should be cancelled out of respect, and what needs to be cancelled because security resources in Paris, France across western Europe are stretched to the max. I am glad this week's concerts were cancelled but hopefully things will "normalize" soon. Regarding the Foo Fighters, I take them at their word. They only had 4 EU concerts left -- one in Turin tonight, two in France (Paris and Lyon), and one on the 19th in Barcelona, Spain. So cancellation had nothing to do with tour insurance. Thanks Q3. I looked at FF's actual Facebook posting after I wrote all that, and it looks like it was a combination of logistics and security at the moment that led to the cancellation of the tour, plus they said they're devastated by events (can't remember the exact words). So it was more than just "out of respect" that these dates were cancelled. Yes, much more involved but nothing to do with insurance. > I was responding to your comment and to the quote that you quoted which was vastly overstating what the Foos did -- it was "BTW, the Foo Fighters posted that they have cancelled their entire European tour, not just the date in Paris, out of respect for what happened in Paris." Read more: adamtopia.com/thread/3390/adam-idol-sweden-more-news#ixzz3rVJTO7vYThat post was not correct because the Foos were at the end of the EU tour and they only had 4 concerts left. > I also agree with you, that while it is important to be respectful of the people who were killed and injured, and to respond in some way, there is no way to secure everything. Life must go on. *** Unfortunately the concept of a Europe with no borders is probably going to end after this. NYC and London have managed to increase security without ruining the cities urban experience, I hope Paris can find a path of balance. My favorite city in the world is Istanbul and yet I do not feel safe as an American visiting Turkey right now. I planned to go this summer (an Adam-free trip ) and I am getting ready to cancel. Portugal is looking better all the time.

I just got back from Paris and Barcelona. There was already a lot of security throughout Paris last week. Barcelona is now my new favorite int'l city.

My favorite city in the world is Istanbul and yet I do not feel safe as an American visiting Turkey right now. I planned to go this summer (an Adam-free trip ) and I am getting ready to cancel. Portugal is looking better all the time. I always felt it was a security issue. I read their original articles. That tweet did not paraphrase well. A direct hit on a music venue has never happened before, that i can recall. I think security issues, in this case, are very reasonable for any musical venue cancellation! I would think armed police at the doors of every venue would be needed for awhile and I am sure their security forces might be stretched thin at the moment. Doubt concerts are a priority for where to utilize them. Bono's statement really hit me hard. Could have been you or me or Adam, or my dear sweet twitter follower that lives in Paris and goes to concerts all the time! "Our first thoughts at this point are with the Eagles of Death Metal fans,” Bono said, via Rolling Stone. “If you think about it, the majority of victims last night are music fans. This is the first direct hit on music that we’ve had in this so-called War on Terror, or whatever it’s called. It’s very upsetting. These are our people. This could be me at a show, you at a show, in that venue. It’s a very recognizable situation for you and for me and the cold-blooded aspect of this slaughter is deeply disturbing and that’s what I can’t get out of my head.”

Sounds like the concert isn't decided for sure for Thursday.
