There have always been zealots and fringe groups and individuals who vehemently believe or oppose some of the strangest things. Flat Earth Society, anyone? I smile when I remember my grandmother pulling the drapes in the house when we would play cards on Sunday, because her religion said that was a sin and she didn't want any of her neighbors to know.
One of the side effects of this global society and readily available social media/internet, is that these zealots now can have a very public footprint and garner attention way beyond their previous small sphere of influence. Our ability to evaluate the truth and validity of their claims sometimes lags behind our car-crash mentality, where we gobble up info that we know is ridiculous or just mean-spirited.
There are thousands and thousands of silly, nasty, vile, funny, absurd petitions floating around. Most don't deserve our attention and will die without it. A few are vicious enough or circulated widely enough to merit fighting against.
Those who don't want Adam performing in Singapore won't be going to his concert. No loss. They don't want anyone else to go either (I am so tired of certain groups deciding what MY morals and values should be), and I hope that spurs Adam's fans, and even those who don't know Adam but are curious about the brouhaha to attend.

New interview -- about Thanksgiving + more! Hunger Games fan Adam Lambert wants to play President Snow
The musician will be in town for MediaCorp’s countdown party, Celebrate 2016 By Lee Wei Lin “My family has a Thanksgiving tradition where we make parodies out of movies; we haven’t done it in a while (but if we do it this year), I’d want to do the Hunger Games,” multi-platinum musician Adam Lambert grinned over the phone. “And if we manage to do it, I want to play President Snow.” While breakfast was still settling in our tummies yesterday (Nov 26), the singer-songwriter was fresh from a gym session, just chilling out at his LA home in the early evening on one of his rare off days. Adapting to time differences has become “part of my life” for Adam, who catapulted to fame after coming in as runner-up on the eighth season of American Idol in 2009 – the rest, as they say, is history. Having spent the last moments of his past few years away from home, we could almost feel him shrug, even over the phone. “I didn’t grow up celebrating Christmas and I make time for my family whenever I can so being away on New Years’ Eve isn’t such a big deal for us,” he explained. “Being on the road all the time (…) it’s a part of who I am and we’re used to it,” Adam concluded. While Adam has been busy with his career, the 33-year-old hasn’t been back on our sunny shores for a couple of years now. Since his last visit in 2013 for his first full-scale concert, he counts touring with Queen and releasing his latest album The Original High as two of the most meaningful things on his long list of achievements. Soon after he ushers in the new year in Singapore, he will jet off to China, where he will officially kick off his world tour in Beijing on Jan 3, followed by shows in cities such as Beijing and Tokyo. He will also have stops in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and US. Teasing, Adam said, “This tour is going to be on a different level (…) you’ll have to come see it to find out,” stressing that while we won’t be able to enjoy the full concert, he’ll give party-goers a night to remember. While we only managed to catch him for 10 minutes on the line, he did have a message for his fans before we disconnected the call. “Glamberts, I’m so excited to see you in the crowd in Singapore, in the front row and make eye contact with all of you – it’ll be fun and I can’t wait to spend the first moments of 2016 with you.” Celebrate 2016 will take place on Dec 31 from 8 pm at The Float @ Marina Bay. Tickets are priced at S$168, S$88 and S$38 (excluding booking fees) and are now available on SISTIC. For more information on the countdown, please visit our microsite here.

Being gay is not a crime. There are tons of celebrities in Singapore who are LGBT themselves. One example is someone called Kumar, a comedian, actor, TV host and also drag queen -- and Singapore loves him. The problem here is a group of conservative religious people trying to take Adam down for the NYE show (they failed to, of course). This kind of kerfuffle happened when Adam was touring GNT before. A right winged religious group tried to prevent him from performing. It didn't work. Fans turned out in droves, the government had no problem with the show, the demonstrators dispersed. It was quite the media event, tho, and attracted this type of attention. In the end, Adam had huge support and it was a great concert. Anyone remember..was that Jakarta?? Love will overcome hate. Adam appreciates all the support as he has written. It'll be a fabulous show so go, enjoy and tell us all about it please. Hope that soothes your mind about Adam coming to Singapore, Ghost.

I believe that one was Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He said on stage that the only lifestyle he was promoting was one of friendship, love and peace or something along those lines. It was during the IIHY intro where he was doing the "we can all party together" line.
