HELP!! "Strictly Come Dancing"----What does that show title mean? I'm confused. The definitions of "strictly" that I'm familiar with don't really work for me in this usage. Is there "British" English usage that someone can explain to me? Maybe it's the syntax too. The original programme, years ago when I was a child, was called 'Come Dancing' and was purely professional dancers. Strictly Ballroom was a popular Australian film with a ballroom dancing background. When BBC decided to bring back a professional dancers/amateur celebs version, they mashed up the names to make Strictly Come Dancing. An important story line in the Strictly Ballroom movie was that a male professional dancer takes a homely female amateur and turns her into a beautiful dancer who can compete with him against other professionals. They come up with some very creative moves, thanks partly to her musical gypsy family, that scandalizes the judges but is loved by the audience. (Shades of Len Goodman on Dancing With the Stars when he complains that a dance was not a "proper" Foxtrot, etc.)

So good to see ALN on the published CHR top 40 chart today! Caught us all by surprise that it happened today. #50 and ready to roll! All of us? Well, surprised that it was on the published chart today. However, SOMEONE predicted it was eminent.

So since we had the discussion, what type of dance do they do? Looked a bit modern with traditional thrown in. The dance was not one of the formal competitive ballroom dances. At some ballroom competitions, there is a category called "Show Dance" in which the dancers can do just about anything from a strict ballroom dance choreographed to music of their choice to Theater Arts (lots of lifts) to anything in between. I would place this dance in the Show Dance category. Thanks for the info. I was waiting for your opinion. Good to know.

Terrance did several snapchats. He's in his hotel room in McAllen, Texas. Showed he and Dani on the plane from earlier.
Don't think it's any surprise but PeterKeys posted he was gonna be gone from home for 3 weeks. He's been with Adam since the beginning of TOH.
