Flash forward to a week ago Friday night. I totally mangled my finger in a foolish culinary accident with a large immersion blender and stitches were def required. So we head out to an urgent care for my first stitches. I was a bit nervous plus it would not stop bleeding. I was stressed, my blood pressure was elevated, I was not happy. When they finally got me into a exam room to do the sutures, I was surprised that there was music playing -- turned out to be local radio. I forget what was playing. Then the doc arrived -- a really attractive 30 something probably gay man -- and while he was working on my finger, ALN came on. I smiled. It was Adam, and he said, "Oh I love this song. I really like Adam Lambert now." Which led us to talk about Adam. He had a vague awareness of Adam but was not a fan of glam rock/pop. I told him about seeing Adam live and that there was a concert in Detroit coming up. He said he would check it out. I figured he was being nice to me. So yesterday I had to get the stitches removed and saw him again. He told me he had tickets for Adam's show in Detroit and based on my recommendation went for the VIP tickets. I knew it is just a few people, but this is how artists acquire new fans -- slowly, by word-of-mouth and exposure. And all of these men are in a demo that has eluded Adam -- 30ish gay men with money. It is just one acorn, but I think there must be many, many more acorns. Great story Q3......at least the bit about making 'converts'. Good for you. You'll have to let us know what the a doc thought of the concert.... The mangled hand bit isn't so great; hoping it's on the mend now.....

Some nice words from Kris about Adam: www.yahoo.com/music/first-person-my-american-idol-1351684600717366.htmlWhen I look back at Season 8 compared to all of the 14 seasons that Idol has had, I really do think we had the most talent. I’m not just saying that because these people are my friends; I really believe this. Adam Lambert was the best performer the show has ever seen, coupled with one of the most amazing voices.

There was some fuss today on twitter about some new rules for the M&G's that were instigated by an incident at the Auckland M&G. People were now told they couldn't touch Adam unless he would start it himself. I believe there was quite some talk about how stupid that was and people were complaining about it a lot. Apparently the M&G people were only told to not touch his face and hair. See some tweets from feraltwirler about it: twitter.com/feraltwirlerSeems like a perfectly reasonable restriction to me. He's a person not a thing. And it escapes me Why you would even try or want to touch someone you don't know that intimately? #lesigh

This is lovely -- and I do not think it is done yet. ALN is getting a lot of play in gay clubs in NE Ohio -- where I live. It is the first time I have heard Adam's music regularly played in clubs here. If it is getting played here, it is getting played in many other markets. I also get to hear it every time I get my hair done because my stylist (he is gay, 30ish) has it on his compiled music CD -- been there since December. He was not an Adam fan but he and his partner own a club in Akron and I wanted him to play Adam's music. I gave him a copy of TOH when it came out and he really liked it. Over the past few months, he has become a fan. Then the man (also gay, 30's) who puts together his music included ALN on the last 2 discs. They are both now Adam fans -- they liked GT but love ALN. As are my stylist's partner and several of their friends. Flash forward to a week ago Friday night. I truly believe in our power to inspire others to check him out. And then the rest is history.

I know intellectually it is his choice and he makes some good money off them but emotionally I am conflicted about them and I have a problem articulating why. I am just uncomfortable and it seem to me, an invasion of privacy. Or maybe it goes back to the time Mickey Mouse was too friendly at Disneyland.
