I thought the name Lady GAGA was inspired by Radio GAGA by Queen? Don't see the Bowie connection for that! DUH. you are right...was not thinking... haha, one degree of separation right there though!!!

Hello folks! I got home from my "Amazing OZ/NZ Race" late last nite. I can't believe I survived it all...lol. Check off OZ/NZ from the bucket list. This was my first time to travel this far...and boy was it really far, especially from the US eastern time zone. I'm so far behind on things, I assume all the concerts have been discussed, reviewed and recapped by now.
This was also the first time I have actually lined up early and done a "full package" standing GA. We had 3 standings, two down front seats and one balcony seat for the last Sydney show. We figured we'd be so tired after having stood at the Sydney 1 show.
In Auckland we lined up with the small group of North American diehards beginning at 9:30 AM. We only left briefly and held each other's spots for a bathroom break and then to run back to the hotel to change clothes for the concert. We did a self imposed numbering system...which Dainty approved of, and the venue let us line up under the awning by the door..which helped keep order. But even with numbering....you had the VIP early entry + merch folks, the Photo Op upgrade folks (some had VIP and some just regular tics) and the regular GA line, which included the Melanie Martinez fans. There was lots going on...lines for different things going on all at once. Security was great in Auckland. They kept things under control. We had encountered sev fans who had indicated that they don't line up in NZ/OZ and they would just plow thru to get a good spot. Well, that didn't happen. We were fortunate to wind up front row at the rail...just a little on the right hand facing the stage side. He played more to that side, except on Sydney 2 when we were in the balcony. He gave the left side facing the stage way more attention. The fans there were more flaily and vocal and there were cute boys in the mix there as well. Auckland was great. It was really hot in there, as Adam indicated. I was so glad to be on the front and have the rail to prop on and keep from being suffocated from the heat. I think being several rows back in that situation would not have been good. While in Auckland, we spent all of Thursday before the show with the lovely and gracious Catzmadam She took us to her home hideaway overlooking the beach, where she served us mimosas. She also drove us all over her neighborhood. She took us to where they filmed the movie, The Piano. Gorgeous scenery.
Granduchess......Cherie/Catz said she hopes you and DH can take a trip over. She has a guest house out back for y'all. She says you and she are kindred spirits.
For the two Melbourne shows we had really close to the front seats. It was great! No standing all day, etc. The best/easiest way to see Adam IMO. Both shows were great, but I think the 2nd was a little better IMO.
We met the lovely Bridgeymah in Melbourne! She's a doll, cute as can be and a sweetheart! Waves at Bridgey...
We arrived in Adelaide the afternoon before the show. We decided to go check out the venue late that afternoon and found a mother and two of her kids already camped out at the venue. At first I thought, wtf....lol. But after talking with her some that nite and all day long on concert day.....we grew fond of the whole family. She had 4 kids....the 3 yr old Adam fan, a 8ish yr old daughter, a young teen transgendered son, Harry, and a 18 yr. old daughter. The 3 and 18 yr old didn't camp out at the venue. I'm sure you've seen pics of Harleigh, the 3 yr old and Harry, 13ish, from their photo op. Two of our diehard GA lineup friends who skipped Adelaide gifted their VIP early entry packages to the 10 and 18 yr old who only had regular GA tics. We arrived at the venue in Adelaide a little after 6AM and did the whole day waiting game again. We wound up on the rail again right of center. I was farthest to the right for this show...still on the rail....but they had marked off the center of the floor for the Photo Op + VIP early entry folks. Adam sent down some guests, including Tom Jay (he sings with an OZ band) and friends ( if you remember Adam had gifted Tom Jay NYE London tickets as well). They were tall and wound up on 2nd row center. Seems some drunk lady tried to punch Tom Jay and she was removed. That marked off area was packed. Most all of the photo op folks....whether they had early entry VIP or just a regular GA admission filed into the center. Security was bad at that venue. This was the only venue where things didn't run smoothly. In Auckland they had marked off a far left side section for those VIP + photo op folks, leaving about 60% of the stage front for us other VIP folks. In Adelaide, a big portion of the center and about 3 rows deep were marked off. Because of all the extra folks, including photo ops with regular GA who weren't stopped and about 6 of Adam's friends...that area was packed and it pushed us off more to the sides. But our standing spot was still good...just wider to the right.
We had flown into Sydney initially because of flight schedules, so we had seen the sites around the harbor/Opera House. On this return trip we stayed really close to the venue in Newtown. It's a college town and very Bohemian/artsy. This time we lined up for Sydney 1 starting at 5:20AM. By now we've become buddies with the other diehards ...most we already knew. Here I was number 6. I think that was my lowest number. Again I was a little right of center on the rail. Another awesome show! I was three for three at the rail. The moat was a little closer to the stage in Sydney and the stage a little lower, so I felt really close to Adam. In line for this show, we met a local OZ fan named Matt. Seems his friend had won a M&G and picked another friend to be her plus one. Both the winner and the friend had already had photo ops. We felt bad for Matt who had never met Adam, so we gifted him a photo op. Another diehard gifted another person in line with a photo op upgrade and also gave away several other VIP packages. This was fandom at it's best. Spending hours in line with strangers makes for wonderful interactions with folks you have nothing in common with but a love for Adam.
For Sydney 2, we had second row balcony seats. This was the first time I noticed the light panels thruout the show. I had never noticed the giant eye ball and the firey scenes, etc. There was one time during Runnin in the balcony where the red lights were blinding. There is a lot of light show in the TOHT. From the floor both standing and seated down front you get some lights strobing right into your eyes to the point...for me....I had to close my eyes until the pattern changed. In the balcony, you get the lights hitting you differently. Sometimes the lights are perfect and the stage lighting is wonderful....other times it's almost too much light activity....IMO. Poor Melanie was poorly/darkly lite thruout her set. There are a few times when I thought Adam could have been brighter lit. But that might just be me and my preference.
Jacqui from Singapore was there with us in line for all the shows. She's really lovely and super fun. She stood for that last show as well and asked me my feelings about watching from the balcony. I had the same feeling this time that I had noticed in previous shows where I sat in the balcony.......I felt like I was watching a performance. No one stood in the balcony in Sydney. It was live and I was there....but it was just a little better than watching a bluray DVD. When you are down close, and especially on the front row......you feel like you are part of the show, a participant. You can dance, flail, wave your hands, sing along as loudly as you want, etc. And you are always waiting for that second where Adam looks right into your eyes. It's observation vs participation. The small gain in audio quality from far away just doesn't compare to all the "feels" down close. I know some folks focus mainly on the vocals/audio and are perfectly happy in the balcony....and guess that's why there are venue balconies. lol.
Random thoughts: The US $ is very good in OZ/NZ. I went ahead and bought 4 tshirts...altho I'm sure they will be the same in the US. because $40 AUS equates to around $28 in US money. Seems like we paid $40 US for our shirts last time in the US. I also bought an Adam shot glass and a bracelet. I imagine you all have seen the VIP merch bags. The key rings are nice. The special hand signed and numbered litho along with letter of authenticity that came with the photo op was not numbered and was small like the photos and there was no letter attached. Guess that was a last minute change. But no biggie and easier to pack to bring home.
Food prices in OZ are really high I thought.
The weather was great for the 16 days we were there. Not too hot anywhere...and only two heavy rain downpours...one in Adelaide and one in Sydney...but they passed by and clouds didn't linger.
I had one photo op in Melbourne and it was so rushed that my pic turned out awful. So, I won't be replacing my avi anytime soon. lol. Some folks did multiple photo ops. In the US, these M&G, now called photo op packages are tied to seat location. In OZ/NZ they were a $275 add on to any ticket you already had bought. You may have already heard this, but seems a fan in Auckland tried to put a hat on Adam's head during the photo op and another grabbed him to hug him around the neck. In Melbourne 1, Dainty instructed to not touch him at all and only hug him if he initiated it. Well, some fans found a loophole and asked for a hug and he politely complied. Well, for the one I attended for Melbourne 2, we were instructed in no uncertain terms and repeatedly.....no touching at all and NO hugging.....period. This had come from Adam himself. This was also when he put on the darn ball cap. Don't know if it was a random fashion choice or he was saying my hair is off limits....bitches. lol.
We became bffs with the Dainty rep...a darling, cute as a button gal named Jess. She was firm and professional, but kind and attentive to us. She kept us informed of all the happenings and we gave her feedback from our perspective. She told us she was so impressed with our group of Glamberts that she shared this with Leah.
Last random thought (until the next one occurs to me) On Sunday, Sandy and I went to Bondi Beach and ate seafood and walked the streets and took pics, etc. It was a hot, sunny gorgeous beach day. We passed by the Bondi Tattoo parlor and I kidded Sandy and said we should go in and get a tattoo as a souvenir. After we got back to the hotel we saw the pics where Adam had been there when we were there and had gotten his latest tattoo. Now, I wish I had gone into that tattoo shop. LOL....

Much as I would like to see Adam and a bit of a mix up in there, I don't think there is any doubt that Gaga was inspired by Bowie....after all, Her name is Gaga and her first huge album was Fame.....those two alone are pretty momentous nods to the man. & 7 minutes is about the length of time we were treated to Adam's first gig with Queen...and remember that we were anticipating Gaga there....she wanted that I think...but she never appeared to say anything negative about Adam when it never happened.... I just think that if Adam can't have the gig, i think if they are going for one person, she is the next best option, to be honest. imho I thought the name Lady GAGA was inspired by Radio GAGA by Queen? Don't see the Bowie connection for that! That's what she said ~ " the name Lady GAGA was inspired by Radio GAGA by Queen". Not Bowie related at all. And it's not that I don't think that woman is a very talented singer ~ because she is ~ but she always makes everything all about HER. Also, Lady Gaga has said that she's left singing to devote herself totally to her acting career. Adam has NOT left singing behind!

No offense to anyone, but I have become as tired of Lady Gaga as I was of Taylor Swift. Over-saturation is not a wonderful thing. Spread the joy a little, oh you people in charge.

I never got the sense she was influenced by Bowie, Madonna more so and ok Queen re her name but that's a whole different discussion not for here. Adam would have been great I'm sure we'll find out in due course what the 14th was all about (if anything). I wish there were a way to include Adam and Queen and Nile as well as Gaga. QAL should reprise UnderPresuure, Adam should do Let's Dance [with Queen and Nile], and Gaga should do Fame and Lazarus. That would be pretty Awesome. Queen and Nile Rodgers could continue back up and Adam could join in at the end of Lazarus...or they could quickly reprise Space Oddity...that would be an awesome set... I'm not sure this scenario would have a chance in hell of working-------Once Adam steps on the stage, everyone else fades---and how would Gaga ever put up with THAT????? Remember, whatever she does, it's all about HER!
