Doesn't the original article say Mel is mentoring the contestants booted off? Sounds to me like they will bring back a booted off contestant to add drama. Kind of like the Wild Card round on Idol. Bet it is a one episode appearance by Mel B. I didn't read the article but this would make a lot more sense than her becoming a 4th judge. After all, they've already filmed & aired the promo with the 3 judges. They wouldn't add a 4th judge in the middle of the competition - they'd also have to add another category (Over 22s, Under 22s, Groups.... plus...?). Mentor-to-the-booted makes sense.

Doesn't it say the "underdogs"? That would be a category, possibly. Too many categories! I hope it will be just a short-term appearance.

Whoa, almost got hit between the eyes this morning by Mel B's assets ...but it does clarify the demo they are trying to appeal to by hiring her... Are they hiring her or her big puppies?

A couple of the reality cooking show competitions I watch have an extra competition on the side for those contestants eliminated on the show (it airs online only). The eventual winner of the "losers" re-enters the TV competition near the finale as a "surprise" to the finalists. Perhaps that is what they are doing with the "underdog" category?

Nice! Not quite as much interview as with Adam though. ❤️

Now this is all grand mind-wandering, unsubstantiated, speculative "what-iffing" but if I wanted to see if someone could hold their own, or if I wanted to 'groom' a really good judge, I would send in Mel B. She is smart, vocal, witty and funny...and she knows this judging gig from the inside. There really is no Mel B type male in the US and ??? singing reality judging world today. Adam has a similar kind yet tough, witty and funny persona but so far when he has been on TV, he has not fully let his freak flag take off. This is his season long audition and I would not be surprised if Simon questions Mel B on her impressions of Adam, at length. jmho
