As impatient as I am, I still am glad Adam waited to make his album. I think we will get a much better quality album than if he was doing it while touring. One thing that is different about Adam than others that waited 2 years between albums is that Adam gave us other products such as AL and GNT.

It is getting clearer what is likely to happen at Sony Music Entertainment, and specific interest to me, at RCA now that Doug Morris has taken over. There used to be two main business units in SME -- Columbia/CBS -- which Sony acquired in 1987 RCA/Jive (the old BMG labels) -- 50% acquired in 2004; fully acquired in 2008 Looks like Doug Morris is breaking up the two label system -- to create a few A&R Centers and one consolidated marketing and business operation. It is a multi-year plan. In the meantime -- there will be three label groups at SEM in place of the old two headed monster. www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/industry/record-labels/can-doug-morris-lead-sony-past-universal-1005250172.storyL.A. Reid will head the newly formed Epic Label Group which is Epic from Columbia and Jive from RCA. (Epic Label Group is an old CBS label, Jive from BMG) Peter Edge is getting promoted from Executive Vice President of A&R/President of J Records to run RCA which will keep J Records along with Arista. Current RCA executive VP/GM Tom Corson is staying. Columbia will still be run by current Columbia/Epic chairman Rob Stringer, Columbia co-chairmen Steve Barnett and Rick Rubin, and Columbia president Ashley Newton. Stringer and Newton will continue to run Columbia but loose Epic an that roster of artists. Rubin's contract is not expected to be renewed. The most interesting bit in this entire article is this.... Billboard: Morris will likely encourage Columbia, Epic and RCA to create even more A&R centers, with an emphasis on growing Sony's R&B album market share, which stands at 29.4%, year to date. But Sony is likely to meet stiff competition for talent from the Lucian Grainge-helmed Universal, the urban powerhouse with 38.8% album market share. On June 21, renowned artist manager Gee Roberson (Kanye West) was named chairman of Geffen Records. So maybe Adam will put out an R&B album some day in the distant future

OK I listened to The Canyons.. pretty vocals & nice harmony, but a throw back IMHO.Kind of like the main Beachboy kids plus C. Phillips. Forgot the name of the group.. but I guess you get my drift. A bit boring, but maybe pretty background music.. You mean Wilson Phillips... Yup thanks

Q3 - So which of those 3 "centers" is Adam under? Is all this going to effect his album rollout that much?

Well. this fall and winter should be interesting because supposedly all these albums may be released by the end of the year; Kelly Adam DaughtryKris Danny Scotty LaurinPia This looks like AI overload to me. I know they will be in different genres, but they are all AI and there will be many of the same buyers purchasing them. Should be very interesting and I bet we see some buyer fatigue. I think the real competition for Adam beside other artists in the industry would be Kelly & Daughtry. Not saying that Kris is not, but isn't Kris said that his 2nd album is going to be a bit pop-rock and a bit country.. (reminded me of a song.. ;D). I thought that's what he said, I think he's aiming Country music's buyer at this time too. And Danny, Scotty and Lauren would definitely compete in the Country songs... and Pia??? She'll probably compete with Celine Dione :-/ or other Divas

Q3 - So which of those 3 "centers" is Adam under? Is all this going to effect his album rollout that much? Adam is RCA and he is fine. (I was just joking about R&B because I would love an Adam blues album.) The only artist that I have read might switch labels is Britney -- Jive to RCA. ETA: The only Idols that matter to Adam are the ones who could clog up the Top 40 and HAC charts. Daughtry and Kelly. Thankfully, RCA is really good about releasing one song at a time, and going very slowly. Other than that -- big Kelly sales should help Adam sales. Even Cook's new album on Amazon the "people who bought also bought list..." had Adam's GNL as the #2 album after "David Cook" (debut).
