I have a feeling that my post got some fans agitated, so I am responding to my own post...It was my general observation about Adam looking young during that show - may be it was the hair style - and I wanted to voice my my opinion about the obsession of youthfulness in general. And yes, I noticed a change without making any assumptions. That's it for me. No need to worry. Your post was fine. I am not totally obsessed with youth, but I do take care of my hair! Not ready to have any gray hair. Adam spoke about not wanting to turn 35 in an interview years ago -- post Idol. For people in the entertainment business not named Betty White, age really does matter. And all of my gay friends in LA chase youth. So Adam is in the middle of a double whammy. Whatever he wants to do is OK with me. Frankly, I have no problem with age and still think Sean Connery is quite sexy. And my dream man crush is Dr. Brian May -- vegetarian, friend of animals, PHD and rock star -- unbeatable!! ETA: And Brian is not young. Thanks for your response. I was a bit worried. Your comment about your youth obsessed gay friends in LA confirms what I was told by a gay couple here in the Bay Area. One of them - good looking guy in his early 40's - didn't have the most welcoming reception when he stepped into one of the gay bars in Hollywood while on a business trip - there were even rude comments. My son has mentioned similar stuff to me about the gay community's huge emphasis on youth. I wouldn't know, but if that's the case, it really sucks. I am fine with aging as long as I feel healthy (and relatively fit), but I too dye my hair. I started turning grey when I was in my thirties!

It's a mix of three colors including lots of grey.. I ask everybody, including strangers, how they like my hair..One person said "do I know you ?" I've become a bit obsessive .. may have to turn to the bottle...LOL.as far as Adam He's so young and gorgeous... to me, he keeps getting better looking every year.. and with his personality and talent who cares about a couple of wrinkles .. whatever...Reality check It's what you're made of not what you look like.. I HOPE

Yeah, my friend Craig lived in San Diego and once commented to me that as a gay man over 40 he felt invisible. Really sad.

For me as straight woman, it is most logical that a marginalized group would support and appreciate each other.

I totally agree, but in the gay community for some reason there is an emphasis placed on youth and beauty. I would like to understand it better too. I wonder if there have been any studies done on the subject.
