cassie,
Alison has, most of the time, had a (to me) shrill edge to her voice that both grates and offends my ears. Some of her stuff I enjoy, but not most. My feelings only. Is there a term for that sound that my ears define as shrillness? Wondering if it is intentional or just a byproduct of her voice. Also wondering because people in the industry, like Idol judges and Matt Rolling in this video, seem to think she has a fantastic voice.

I try really hard to like her but the tone of her voice really grates. Maybe the term is, it’s brittle? Too much treble, not enough bass! I tend to not care much for female voices. The ones I do like (Lady Gaga for one) are more altos. I like Pink too. She ,does get high sometimes but not as shrill as Alison. But I’m not an expert and only know what I like and don’t like, haha.

They kept telling us from The Voice just how great and extraordinary she was. I'm glad she won (I guess) but her performances did not hit me hard at all. Also did not enjoy her much on Aftermath, tho, others did.
