Such a fun topic this morning..wish I could play. I grew up in Germany with my grandmother...we had no TV until I was almost 10. We didn't have a record player, so no celebrity crushes for me. We listened to the radio a lot, and I loved music, but did all my own singing lol. My first crush was a bit different. I started reading in 1st grade, and was a voracious reader at a very early age. When I was about 7 or so I discovered a series of books by Karl May, a German writer. He wrote about the adventures of an Indian named Winnetou and his white blood brother. I fell in love with Winnetou and his horse, and vowed at that age to someday marry a Native American....true story. I came to America when I was 12, and discovered my Dad's country music record collection....johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr, etc. I wasn't a big TV watcher, still a reader...no celebrity crushes. I was a weird kid, very much a loner and an introvert....no concerts....way too many people. I did however meet my Native American dream...in the form of my blonde husband lol...he has Native American ancestors on both his Mom's and Dad's sides... Weird kid. I don't post very often but had to comment on your post svca. I grew up in the Netherlands until we moved to Canada when I was 13 and our neighbour had all the Karl May books. I LOVED the Winnetou and Old Shatterhand books, read them all. Boy, a blast from the past. Our neighbours moved to Canada too, a few months after us. As I'm here, wanted to let you all know that we have 2 tickets for Vegas, Sept. 15, section 101, row M, seats 2 + 3, available. This is right at the end of the thrust and there are only 3 seats in this row. Seat 1 was just taken by an Atopper. I remember my first album, Herman's Hermits Greatest Hits, but for the life of me I can't remember my first concert. Don't even remember going to one until out of my teens I think. Paul McCartney was definitely my first crush.

First album: Meet the Beatles First concert: The Young Rascals (now just The Rascals) still touring. Had lots of great hits. Frist celeb crush: Probably George Harrison, because he was the quiet, introspective type. Paul was just plain cute. And John had my total respect because he was political and outspoken and risky. A danger boy.
My tastes have tended to run toward the less cutesy-type bands and performers.. I have alwaysloved the Stones and Led Zep and the like. A little darker is my taste. That's one reason I love Adam. He has that light sunny side, but he can also show his darker side. And both come across as very authentic to me. Adam is not a shallow person.

Great topic today! My first purchase of an album was "Meet the Beatles", LP vinyl. I bought every single Beatles album, and still have all those vinyl LPs (also own all Beatles albums on CDs). First live concert was The Beatles in Detroit in 1964. I was 15, and of course I couldn't drive myself to get tickets. Back then you had to buy the tickets at the venue. My dear Dad stood in line in the pouring rain (with screaming Beatles fans) for about 4 hours to get tickets for me and my best friend, another Beatlemaniac. What a gift that was!! Turns out he had a dinner that evening with the Mayor of Detroit, the Archbishop of the Detroit Catholic Diocese, and other Detroit dignitaries (my Dad was very active in establishing a Fair Housing Act in the Detroit area back in the 60's), and here he was with these important people with his trousers wet up to his knees!
My first celebrity crush was Paul McCartney, which lasted many, many years. Also saw The Beatles two more times live, in Toronto in 1965 and in Detroit in 1966. I was a hopeless fan (and still am).
No one has made me feel like I did during my Beatlemania days until Adam came along. He has been such a gift for me and has enriched my life in so many ways.

It is fun to remember back to your first musical loves. Without a doubt, my first musical crush was Elvis and Jailhouse Rock. Were on a camping holiday and my father gave me a rare 40 cents to plug into a jukebox [5 cents per song] and I played Jailhouse Rock 8 times!!! When Elvis went into the army I read every movie magazine I could get my hands on [which was not easy as my parents would never have such a thing in the house, nor had the money for such frivolities...father was a United Church minister-yes I was the dreaded 'minister's daughter']. Elvis's first release after finishing military was Stuck on You I was about 13 by this time and still fully enamoured. Did not last as long as Adam has now and not as fully developed at all...why?? Who knows.
I honestly do not remember my first purchase....or concert ... so will comment on a couple of favorites. I bought Janis Joplin's Pearl album as soon as it came out and played it until it needed replacing...I owned that on vinyl, then cassette, then CD. Still an all time favorite. Another huge favorite was Neil Diamond's Tap Root Manuscript...I don't think he ever got the credit he deserved for the African side of that album....I also wore that one out.
I had a pretty decent actor crush on Marlon Brando in Mutiny on the Bounty....that was one BEAUTIFUL man....I went to the theatre to see that film half a dozen times just to lust over that body and face....whew...
When it comes to films...I suppose you might call me an odd duck....I love dramatic darkness....I love the catharsis of the gut/heart wrenching that takes you to another place! There is nothing like being utterly transported by grief only to 'come back' to a safely mundane reality. So....Book wise: Wuthering Heights; Fall on your Knees....awesome...also love Thomas Hardy. Films: Gigot, with Jackie Gleason, [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigot_(film)] fabulous film if you can find it; Dancer in the Dark [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dancer_in_the_Dark] with Bjork....Black Swan.....
I am not a depressed sort so these choices may seem odd but.....there you go...we are quite the mixed bag here are we not? Sorry to be so long winded...got me on a good/bad day, depending on preferences

OK: Today’s thread is open for other music. As I said, my first crush for a musician was Michael Patrick Kelly. In Germany (and its neighbor countries) most people of my age know him as Paddy from the famous Kelly Family. They are a band, that exists since the 70s with changing members. Originally the parents, who emigrated from the US to Spain in the sixties, made music with their children and played in their village or hospitals for Christmas ect. The family grew, they had 12 children. Then the mother died, the family moved on toy France, back to the US, to the Netherlands, to Germany. Always playing music in the streets and living from that. They wrote their own music, from the youngest to the oldest, danced and learned to play different instruments. In 1994/1995 they had their big breakthrough in Germany. The band then consisted of 9 siblings from age 12 to 30 and they went from the ever growing street concerts to the big arenas. And sold them all. Several times in a row. Paddy (as Michael Patrick is called) was 16/17 and their frontman since he was 7. They were on every TV show, compilation CD and weekly teen-magazine. They were at the absolute top and stars next to Michael Jackson or the Backstreet Boys. But they were never cool. Until today people love or hate them. That lasted until 1999, when some siblings decided to quit. They went on with less members, but they couldn’t sell as many albums as before. In 2004 Paddy suddenly left the limelight and became a monch in a monastery in France. He stayed there for 6 years and it was said, that he would stay there for the rest of his life. Thankfully the other people in the monastery told him to leave and make music. Paddy had become ill and they thought the reason was, he couldn’t make music. That was not the right way for him. When he came back and told his story, he also mentioned the reason, why he decided to leave his old life as a pop star: Back in 2003/4 he simply felt a huge emptiness in his life. He had everything: a lot of money, his family lived in a little castle, he was loved by thousands of fans. (Actually he couldn’t leave the house without a bodyguard since he was 14. The stories, some fans are telling about him going out for shopping are sick!). But all the fame, that was a goal, when he had been a teenager, didn’t make him happy. Finally he climbed a skyscraper and opened a window to jump. He wanted to take his life. But couldn’t. Then he decided to thank God and find his peace in a monastery. So, back again, he slowly started to make music again. Solo, without the rest of the family, who actually stopped playing in 2006. He started with concerts in Churches, but thankfully for me, he is mostly back to his old self and playing pop/rock. He writes a lot of music and his audiences are growing and growing. By now, they are back to 3-5000 people per show. And if he wants it, he will be able to fill the big arenas in 1-2 years. Because now he’s also the new coach on The Boice of Germany. So, why I‘m telling all that? I recorded a video at one of his concerts. He wrote a song to honor all the Rock‘n‘Roll stars, who died too young. Since he himself was close to being one of them, he thinks a lot about them. The concert was in February, only a short time after Avicci‘s death. He’s honored at the end of the song. Many other musicians are shown as well. The video is blurry in the beginning, because my phone had problems with the lights. Sorry for that. youtu.be/_MeVq1cPNbEHere is the music video of his last single „iD“. I love the message of that song! youtu.be/lKqdEjvnH04And here are older videos of him with his family: An Angel (written by Paddy at age 15, performed by him and his younger brother Angelo) youtu.be/AIGGVIkcyWUKey to my heart (live 1996 - to get an impression of him on stage. Actually he’s a vivid performer and loves the stage as much as Adam!) youtu.be/q8pYbruq9swand at the age of 7 (1985 on French TV, Paddy is beside his Dad) m.youtube.com/watch?v=xj6A6mSlZMg#I‘m simply glad, that he is still alive, making music and that I was able to finally attend his concerts. In the 1990th I didn’t make it.

I feel left out lol....am neither a Beatles nor an Elvis fan. I'm sensing a theme in this discussion. I never cared for the Beatles either and only Elvis moderately. I do see several others' first concerts were Herman and the Hermits.....I thought I'd be the only one....lol. Must be several folks here about the same age.

I think, she still owns every single and album. Her sister was married to an US-soldier and got her all the original singles from the States. But she never plays them.
