Looks fun.....but I can't stand Robin Thicke....yuck. I had to google Ken Jeong...never heard of him. But sounds like the talent might be interesting. Of course, I'd love Adam to be part of the talent, but Nicole might guess him....lol.

Just back from Bo Rhap and I thoroughly enjoyed it without loving it. Interestingly, the only part that really touched my heart was the set from Live Aid at the end of the movie. I needed the tissue I'd been clutching in my hand throughout (I weep at the drop of a hat) for that. I think the reason the movie didn't touch me more is that I have no great interest in Queen as a band or as people. My emotional investment is in Adam and by association the music of Queen so it follows that the soundtrack was the highlight for me. As a story, I found A Star Is Born much more absorbing than the story of Freddie and Queen. Having said that, the performances were absolutely marvellous and you genuinely could forget you were watching actors and almost feel as though you were a fly on the wall watching the young members of Queen. It'll be a crime if Rami isn't up for an Oscar. Apart from Live Aid, the highlight for me was obviously seeing Adam. The way the camera seemed to deliberately avoid resting on his face for more than a split second made me think that this was supposed to be an insider secret as even we fans wouldn't have recognised him without the Instagram that Bryan Singer posted. I was thrilled with his role which was quite pivotal, albeit very brief. There were 8 showings today at my local cinema and even so, it was quite full and lots of younger people there who wouldn't even have been around in 1985 when the film ends. So that was encouraging. The friend I was with who is totally impartial really enjoyed it so hopefully she's typical of the general public as I'd love to see it be a big hit. I had the same reaction to BoRhap movie and I am a Queen fan. The only part that I felt really captured Freddie or Queen was the Live Aid part. (Note: I saw a preview so not the exact final but close from what I understand.)
That said, I truly wish the best for the film and for Roger and Brian who really worked to make this happen.
The highlight for me was Dusty. I was told to watch for Adam so I was sort of tipped off but if I did not know about his Dusty Madrid persona, I think I would have missed him.
I also agree about A Star is Born -- it is an excellent movie and I recommend it.

This review got 3 1/2 stars. Same criticisms....didn't delve enough into Freddie's backstory. And this is from a "friend" of Queen. Very long term supporter of the band.

Adams "i wish i had an answer" is weird...under normal circumstances this would send me into overdrive but i think I've simply given up on the subject... Not sure if the circumstances are far from "normal". At this point, I am more curious than impatient or anxious.

Hi there, kryptoman! I checked your wonderful “full circuits” chart for Wicked, but you haven’t updated it yet...I think this will be the largest arc there, won’t it? From 2004(?) to now! Looking forward to seeing it! It is on my ToDo list. I haven't updated in a very long time, but noticed today Adam mentioning the "full circle" in the interview. The tricky part will be deciding where to put the beginning of the arc...

I went earlier today too and very much enjoyed it. Rami is excellent. My reason for going was, of course, Adam. Agree with you regarding lack of emotional investment in the original band affecting reaction to the film. Queen music was played in my household when I was younger but it was bought by my mother - I was into other stuff. So while I'm familiar with their music, find great joy, and love singing along at QAL concerts, truth is I wouldn't be going were it not for Adam - same for this film. Adam has rejuvenated the band and he's the main draw for me even if only for a few seconds on screen! It's a good movie, I hope it does well for them.

According to Wiki the NA tour production opened on March 31, 2005 in Toronto, Adam mentioned Toronto in the interview, so we know he was there from the beginning.... looks like anywhere in the 1st Q of 2005 will work... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wicked_(musical)
