Good to understand the view from the other side! @npr: Thanksgiving isn't a celebration for everyone, particularly Native Americans, and navigating that nuance can be difficult for some educators. n.pr/2zqfPsl

Happy Thanksgiving!! I can relate to this video: @simonscat: Trying to have a peaceful Thanksgiving dinner... 😣 🙄 Folks outside of the US, do you have a similar holiday on another day? Please tell us about your holiday! Fancy you should ask that dancy as I was just going to post, referencing how similar...yet different...our Thanksgiving is. Before I forget....I wish a happy Thanksgiving to all the US members here. In Canada our celebration is pretty close to yours....just much earlier...mid October, and much more low key. Family still does all they can to be present and together, but the whole commercial/shopping connection is completely missing...we wait for Boxing day [day after Christmas] for our shopping gorgeing! Boxing day started off as a day for giving boxes of everything we were replacing with gifts we received xmas day....and with food....to the servants/helpers and the poor. Slowly it devolved into the day people took back the presents that did not fit either their bodies of sensibilities....then it moved to an all out shopping extravaganza. I lived about 6 years in the US and thoroughly enjoyed Thanksgiving!! Merchants here have taken advantage of the busyness of the day in the US and we now have Black Friday sales all over the place....But most of the sales here pale in comparison to Boxing Day!!! and with good reason....retailers are looking to make a killing on Black Friday but Boxing day is dedicated to getting rid of any Xmas over-supplies and left overs.

Nope no similar day here in Sweden (as far as I know) or in the Netherlands.
I do wish everybody who celebrates a Happy Thanksgiving!

www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2018/11/22/box-office-fantastic-beasts-2-tops-300m-as-bohemian-rhapsody-passes-400m/#231bb29f6ab2In other milestone news, Fox’s Bohemian Rhapsody has earned $135 million in North America and $268m overseas for a new $404m global cume. The controversial and much-debated Freddie Mercury biopic is past the $400m mark, and the fat lady, or fat-bottomed girl, isn’t even close to singing. The $55m-budgeted film has been a domestic overperformer and an overseas giant, again showing the value of the live-action musical (or musically-driven) drama or comedy. It’s going to pass La La Land ($441m) and The Greatest Showman ($434m) while taking a run at $500m+ worldwide by the end. And once it gets over $161m domestic, it’ll pass Straight Outta Compton to become the biggest (unadjusted) musical biopic of all time in North America. Wow! I won’t get to see it until it comes out on Netflix... but anyhow, I’m happy to see that the film is doing so well. And regarding Straight Outta Compton - that was a terrific movie, and it gave me a reall appreciation of NWA’s music that I didn’t have at the time.
