I read the whole thing and don't know what the fuss is about. It simply showes, that there is another side to fame. I get "oh, your so skinny alot" and if i imagine as a public figure rumors about a eating disorder would arise it would drive me absolutely INSANE. I would freak out that these rumors might trigger some young girl to adapt unhealthy eating habits. So i do understand the stress the whole speculation gives him, because he doesn't want anyone who is actually gay be made to feel insecure when they see the speculation surrounding himself.

I read that article in Rollingstone. But even Shawn uses some gay stereotypes (that may of may not apply to gay men) to explain his straightness. That he is so stressed about the charge shows even he thinks it will have some effect on his career. And I don't have any doubt that Adam's sexuality had some negative impact on his career. If radio in the US had played his songs excessively like the others, he would also be playing in arenas as a solo artist. And all of the biggest hits were not some great and well written masterpieces, as some claim that Adam needed to get played non-stop. And being open about your sexuality does not stop some media and some fans from making that the focal point. If Shawn thinks too many focus on that now, let him come out and it will be all some will want to talk about. But it is too bad that gay or straight still even matters. And it is telling that the Rollingstone article talked a lot about Shawn and his career but one article I saw only pulled out and focused on the gay or not gay parts to print . Sounds familiar. But even with that, Adam has done well in his career anyway with guts and pride and talent and by keeping his eyes on his goals. And Queen was and is a helpful part of his career. www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/shawn-mendes-cover-interview-756847/

Further to the conversation above, I just read a newspaper interview with Mahershala Ali who stars in the movie "Green Book." I thought this bit was interesting and it made me think of Adam interviews:
Though it only makes sense that conversations about race dominate the press run for Green Book, Ali says it's nagging point of discussion no matter what project he's promoting. "When I go and do these press junkets ... I always spend a good 30 per cent to 40 per cent of the time talking about race," he said. "You spend so much time as a black artist speaking about the black experience that it's almost like the writers are conditioned to speak to me on those terms. Which is cool, but they still don't necessarily reserve enough space to really get into the nuances of the work."

Super busy day today so can't write much. BUT I loved those old interviews with Brian and Roger shortly after Freddie's death. Very eye-opening! They are both such sensible, compassionate men. And they (and John Deacon) gave us some incredible info insights into what happened after Freddie was gone. They never really "broke up."
I remember that wacky interview on the Justin Lee Collins show! Adam was so fun and pretty naughty. He looked great and so sexy. Same as NOW! Very excited about the Strictly show! And the NPR show! He had a fun friends party with the kids in the pool. Who knows? Adam may have his own kids someday. So, Shawn Mendes might be gay? Oh my! Will the world survive? If he is, he sure played his cards differently than Adam did. Worked for him! Coming down from a wild and crazy Thanksgiving weekend with out of town family. Great time, but pretty wiped out!
