They put the words to the chorus here so now I can understand them. Boy, she gave it her all and I think she was very pleased with her performance at the end.

LOL! Someone here posted a Spotify streaming playlist that I copied. They always add Adam's new songs so I never learned how to do it so I just turn down the sound and play. I had slacked up a bit sometime ago but I went back to streaming about 3 months ago because something was going on that I don't remember. But I did purchase the Wicked tune. But it is added to the playlist so I am streaming. That was actually my playlist that you posted. Nothing wrong with that! And yeah I try to add the new songs when I can. Hopefully we get a few of them soon! So where is that playlist posted, skaschep? Sorry, I'm such a dope.

This is a perfect example of someone able to do big things by not being caught up in the pop scene. Kacey Musgraves won 4 Grammy's last night including album of the year. Yes her album was critically acclaimed but she did not need to put up the big numbers that are expected in pop. She competed on Nashville Star years ago. And she is not a darling of country radio like Carrie. Not even close. I don't think Brandi has big numbers either.
Golden Hour debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200 and at number one on the Top Country Albums chart with 49,000 album-equivalent units—39,000 of that figure being pure album sales.[6] It marks Musgraves’ third number one on the Top Country Albums chart. It also debuted at number one on the Americana/Folk Albums chart.[53] As of January 2019 the album has sold 141,100 copies in the US.[54]
In the United Kingdom, Golden Hour debuted at number six on the official UK Albums chart and at number one on the UK Country Albums chart. It marks Musgraves' first top ten album in the UK.[55]
The day after the Grammy Awards, Golden Hour reached the #4 in the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart[56]. The album also reached the top 10 in new territories like Germany, Austria, Spain, Indonesia, India, México, Brazil and Denmark. It also reached #1 in the US iTunes Chart.

Well, I hadn't heard of Kacy Musgraves either....lol. I don't keep up with Country Music. Looks like she's been opening and touring more and more....even opened for Harry Styles No American tour. Seems an odd pairing.
Was reading her Wiki page. Maybe her being more progressive in the more conservative country music field hindered her radio play/sales numbers as compared with the big country stars....but may have helped her with the more progressive Grammy voters....IDK....JMHO.....or maybe her music is just that good IDK
"Musgraves is known for her progressive lyrics in the conservative country music genre. Her music has tackled controversial topics such as LGBT acceptance, safe sexual intercourse, recreational marijuana use, and questioning religious sentiment."

She is also apparently friends with and opened for Katy Perry at one time. She has an interesting career tho. She does not like pop-country but is more traditional county. She is not interested in cheating songs but has more progressive messages. And she is not interested in being the next Taylor Swift or Carrie Underwood. She once said she did not want to be America's sweetheart, lol. She seems to just march to her own beat. I don't follow country either but from what I hear country radio pretty much ignores her but she has won some of country's big awards. I wonder if they are going to start playing her music now cause up until this point, she has not really cared.

I doubt if country radio will start playing her music since the country listening public is more conservative. She's unique and seems to fit in with touring with folks like Katy Perry or Harry Styles. She writes/sings traditional country sounding songs to a more pop progressive audience. She says she's not pop-country, but seems like she's bringing traditional country to pop audiences. That's an odd "package". But, like you said, she's carving her own path and it can't but help to have an arm full of Grammys going forward.

bamafan i consider myself relatively up to date, when it comes to the music scene bit i haven't heard of her before either. I think sizzling63 singled out her performance as her favorite. Adam agrees
I loves Camilas opening performance of "Havanna" i love the song to begin with and she hasn't done it the same way twice. She and her team mix it up. Yes, this was a big production, even for her, but she can also "strip it down" she's performed it on radio as acoustic and her performance of "consequences" was raw, although there was a full orchestra there lol P.s. Camilas performance, the staging, was inspired by her grandma growing uo in Havanna in a "solar habanero" Sweet of you to give me credit, but no it was not me who singled out Brandi Carlile as her favorite. I had a hard time understanding her lyrics especially in the higher register, and I kept reading them on our screen display, and therefore I did not quite connect with the song and the artist. But it was certainly one of the better performances. My favorites were Janelle Monae and H.E.R.

Guess that was why they wrote out the lyrics in the background. I was having the same problem trying to really get into her performance while being distracted reading the lyrics. I do know who Janelle Monae is....lol....but never heard of H.E.R either.

Just scanning various news sites this morning to see what's happening in the world, not looking specifically for music news, I noticed many positive headlines about Gaga's performance. So, some people really liked it, thought she was amazing and innovative.
On another note, here is a quote from H.E.R. from an interview after her nominations, but before the award show, that pertains to the importance of streaming:
Q: You also come from a streaming background — building buzz and a fan base on SoundCloud more than, say, the radio. Do you think the industry is catching up to these scenes?
A: Oh, absolutely. I’m selling out every single one of my shows on this tour — 3,000, 4,000 people a night — with no radio single. I think sometimes we build a stronger base when it comes to streaming. People are singing all the words to every song. That’s how we receive music nowadays — it’s Apple Music, it’s YouTube, Tidal, whatever. It’s playlists. Being put on those playlists is more important than being put on the radio. Some people can have a No. 1, but can’t sell 200 tickets. It’s really powerful to have a strong base that genuinely loves the music and plays it over and over again.
Often the people who build a fan base via soundcloud and streaming put out individual songs quite frequently rather that waiting for a group of songs to come together for an album. I wouldn't mind hearing new Adam songs on a frequent basis like that...
peace&love
Thanks for sharing this. Good to see confirmed by a rising artist, who I thoroughly enjoyed last night btw. (H.E.R.), that radio is not everything and that streaming and getting on those important playlists is key. I think some of our frustration about lack of recognition and exposure for Adam comes from our desires to see and hear Adam a lot more outside of concerts. However, we should be careful what we wish for... him winning a Grammy in some category but not being able to sell out concerts would very likely not make us happy. The last few weeks and months have been good, so let's keep our fingers crossed that it will continue this way.
