Were there any other standing ovations other than shallow? I don't remember jhud getting one. I just went back and checked and your are right, no one stood for Jhud. It's almost as if the reviewer hated Queen or something to rank performances that didn't get a standing ovation over QAL. Maybe it's a MM fan. Gonna try avoid reading any comments on the actual performance videos as I can imagine they are full of MM trolls saying Marc would have done so much better.

That was a brilliant opening and the best I have seen in my life of watching the oscars.

It's pretty clear that this writer doesn't like Queen anyway, so I'm not going to get upset by it. It looked to me like the audience was having a good time during that short performance. I think the overall opinion is that QAL did a great job.

Exactly. Bradley Cooper isn't a singer. He's knows it. He did fine with what vocal skills he has. What I can't understand is why Gaga chose to shriek the daylights out of that song. It's a lovely song. I know she loves to shake things up, and she CAN sing when she chooses to, but apparently she chose not to this time. I know Gaga fans love how she performed the song. That's fine. But it missed the mark for me. And I also don't feel the Cooper/Gaga chemistry like everyone else seems to. To each his own.

It appears that the Gaga/Cooper performance was widely applauded, also in my local newspaper. They did okay for me for what it was, however I am glad that the awards show season came to an end last night and that the Gaga drama is on pause for now. All the hyperventilating and crying got a bit too dramatic and "showy" for me. On the contrary though, Rami has proven to be quite charming and fun and great to listen to.

I'm starting to believe that Gaga is now cult status and can do no wrong. Kinda like how Freddie purists seemed to never think he made any mistakes live.

TBF Gagas performance was far stronger then her Grammys one. I actually enjoyed it. Although her nuancement sounds like she has cough syrup in her mouth haha. I think people liked it. Because of the visuals. The audience love them the way they love Leo and Kate.
I Can understand the reaction to QAL performance. I Really enjoyed it. Adam looked like he had so much fun. And the audience were loving it. Just seeing one of my fav actors Bradley Cooper being one of the first to give Adam a SO was great. But it felt like candy floss, I Wanted more lol. Felt too short, and Adam diddn't really get more of a chance to show off his voice. WWRY and WATC Are icons, but he has sung it so may times. I Would of preferred Bohemian Rhapsody and SMGO tbh. But still nearly 30 million people watched him.

Now I get the hype a bit more. About Adam and Queen ... Very solid performance of course, but I too wanted more of a BAM(!) type QAL experience. Unfortunately, it was over before I took another breath haha. Given the time constraint I guess they had to limit it to WWRY and WATC.
