Anybody who goes on these shows and does not do their homework upfront, normally does not deserve to be there, imo. That is why I was never a fan of opening up these shows to kindergarten age or age 15 for that matter. At that age you are not able to work your way through an available idol back catalog, understand the songs that you can expect to have clearance based on past experience, understand your own self enough to know what of the possible choices can fit for you as an artist and as a singer, and therefore could be potential song choices at some point in time, and you cannot possibly understand the whole gamut around the show itself. But if the participants have done so little homework that they have not even looked at the top 3 performers, then nothing can help them. Any top 3 list from idol today that does not list Carrie/Kelly/Adam, now in 2019, is just nonsense. I'd say, after that it is Jennifer Hudson and Daughtry, and then the next 5 you could probably have some debate about who is in and who is not. But the top three? They are not a question anymore, imo. The question whether a bunch of puppy-eyed 15 year olds have understood any of that and know what it could possible mean for their own artistry, or possibly their performance of a Queen song, I don't know. Overall, at this point, my gripe is more with the judges than the contestants. I cannot see how these candidates feel that they are getting any guidance or feedback, based on what they are being told. I have not made it through a whole show yet. But obviously, that will change on Sunday, so everything is alright there.
ETA: Yeah! Glad to finally bounce us off of page 1.
I totally agree that the age limit on Idol should NOT have been lowered. Sure, there are some talented kids at the lower end of the age scale. But I prefer contestants that have a little more life experience. It makes a difference. I know others will say that a good voice is a good voice and it doesn't matter how old you are, but still..... As for the AIjudges, they have gotten more and more "over the top" in their praise and over-enthusiasm in recent years. I do not watch the show but I've seen some clips. It's very annoying to watch the judges, IMO. There are always some very good contestants. I won't deny that. But the gushing of the judges is just too much for me.

I'm so glad that Adam thus far hasn't had vocal issues. I don't know if Sam has had vocal training or not. Maybe he has. All I know is that Adam HAS had vocal training and it's obvious that it's paid of for him. He RARELY has a vocal problem. He has never had to cancel a performance due to vocal strain. QAL had to cancel ONE show due to Adam's bronchitis, which is not the same as vocal strain. Brian and Roger have said that Adam's stamina is stronger than Freddie's was and that his vocals are consistently outstanding at an amazing level. Adam's success in this is probably due both to a perfectly formed, God-given physique and his wise use of the lessons he learned in his vocal training. He seems to rarely get sick at all, in general. Too bad about Sam. I like him. He'll get back in shape before long.

Emily Lambert @emilylambert_13 Saw this in the TV Guide magazine. @queenwillrock and @adamlambert Amazing, but true. The Oscars was probably the first time that MANY viewers saw Adam and Queen together. So many people have not idea how their collaboration has evolved and how it has created one of the most phenomenal re-births of a classic band in music history. I hope the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland is saving a spot for Adam. He'll be in there someday. I'm sure of it.

When Adam was a judge on XFAU, he almost jumped out of his skin when he first heard Isaiah sing. But he pulled it in and guided him without the OTT praise and "I know you are going to win" nonsense. And there was no telling anyone that they hit higher notes than Freddie Mercury (on national tv when BR and Freddie are all the rage) when they are good singers but not exceptional. On another note, I'll bet Ryan would have loved to have known about Javi and Adam when he had Adam on that Red Carpet at the Oscars. You know how Ryan likes to get into Adam's business, lol. And Javi was even at the Oscars. Remember how he asked Adam about those Sam Smith pictures when Sam was hanging all over him at some club? Adam had to calm Ryan's a** down and tell him they were just friends. HAHA.

I'm so glad that Adam thus far hasn't had vocal issues. This is at least the third time SS has had vocal problems. His vocal technique isn’t good, and apparently he smokes cigarettes like a chimney. (I do worry sometimes about Adam smoking joints - not the greatest thing either, although presumably it isn’t a constant thing like tobacco smoking.) Adam seems to know how to care for his voice, thank goodness.

Two nights of Adam on Idol and ABC is wonderful exposure. I know he has nothing on the radio but I wonder if it will put "Feel Something" back on the itunes chart. Or maybe that would only happen if he were performing the song. But even if it does not, it is hard to beat the two punch package Adam is getting. I would not be surprised if the Idol portion shows a little of QAL's Oscar performance in his introduction. This is all very exciting. And what a way to return to Idol with all his star power. I would be surprised if they didn't show Adam's QAL Oscar performance in his intro. It solidifies his undeniable success as legendary Queen's frontman and it would tie in perfectly with the documentary next day. I really can't wait to see Adam on Idol this Sunday, see his face again and listen to him talk. I missed him, despite the many high level tv performances he has had within the past six months.

That's a beautiful picture of Adam at the top of the front page. I really have nothing to say other than "gorgeous". Can't wait to see that look in action on Sunday

Last week we got song spoilers on Idol on Thursday. Wonder what the schedule is with Adam and Idol this week. Like how much time does he actually spend with them, etc. It may be all his filming is done over a few hours on one day. I'm guessing they pick their own Queen song, maybe with the help of the Idol musical directors and then Adam just gives them advise on how to actually perform the song. I really can't match any Queen song up with any of these contestants. Laine and CLTCL is a predictable choice...maybe Wade could do AOBTD or some other more rock/raspy sounding song. Since Uche is gone, maybe Walker could do DSMN. Madison could do a big ballad. Alejandro is going to have to come out of his comfort zone...will be interesting to see what he chooses. Jeremiah....I hope he doesn't choose WWTLF, but he might. I see where Jeremiah's parents will be in the audience on Sunday nite......the show is really milking that backstory. I think the show wants Jeremiah to win...but think it will come down between Laine and Alejandro if YT watches mean anything. I think Wade could pull off a growly rock song with not too much of a range and AOBTD might work, Laine's Elvis resemblance makes me think of "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", Jeremiah... not a rocker but may be a gentle ballad like "Love Kills" or even "Spread Your Wings...", Madison... I think she is the strongest vocalist and she can do anything from rock to ballad. I'm a big fan of that talented girl. Love her confidence and stamina and personality. Generally, song choice matters greatly, and luckily Queen has a varied song catalogue from different genres. If anybody comes close to Adam's vocal range and power, it's Madison for me. She's effortless.
