Adam talking to the contestants... I just knew that Jeremiah would sing WWTLF. [ Alejandro Aranda — “Under Pressure” Alyssa Raghu — “Somebody to Love” Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon — “Who Wants to Live Forever” Laci Kaye Booth — “Love of My Life” Laine Hardy — “Fat Bottomed Girls” Madison VanDenburg — “The Show Must Go On” Wade Cota — “We Are the Champions” Walker Burroughs — “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” So the Greatest of the Greatest Hits it is. All from the movie. WWTLF, TSMGO and WATC are absolute killer songs to sing. Most singers fail. Whoever chose this, the contestants must be outstanding singers or they are doomed. There are so many much easier songs to sing. And Love of my Life? Not easy and with so much meaning. I wish them luck. They will really need it. I have not watched Idol this season, so I don't know the abilities of the contestants, but some of these songs are very ambitious. And all but one Adam sings, so he has set an impossibly high bar. Seems like a disaster waiting to happen. Adam may have to focus on enhancing the performance with special effects, because, if the contestant does not have the chops to sing TSMGO or WWTLF, a 10 minute mentoring is not going to help, unless the advice is to pick another song. We shall see...

I think Jeremiah has a really good voice and I like him...but this clip gives him the most face time of the group, with cute Walker next. It's clear to me Idol is pushing Jeremiah. I imagine he'll do a pretty good job with WWTLF...probably from the piano...and he said Adam said to emphasize the more tender moments. I kinda thought Madison might tackle TSMGO. She's a power singer....hope she nails it. I thought for sure Laine would do CLTCL....but looks like Walker is doing that one and he'll make if fun and lighthearted. Love of My Life by Laci will probably be OK since she's a tender, soft type singer. Wade and WATC will be a challenge for sure. Adam told him to stand and deliver with strength at the mic. Alejandro will prob do something interesting with UP. Laine needs to pull out all the stops on FBGs. He said Adam told him to work the stage and get out of his comfort zone. twitter.com/14gelly/status/1122499706658131969

I was hoping that WWTLF would not be on the list. Oh well. I'm sure the contestants will do fine in their own way. I would assume that they have seen vids of Adam performing these songs. The bar is high. Adam is so good with people. Great instincts. I don't know if any of these contestants is really innovative in any way, as Adam was. As we know, a good voice isn't everything. Adam has said so.

Jeremiah does have a good voice. Kinda thin, though. He gets the notes and can deliver nicely. But nothing close to Adam's richness and tone. But I guess that's why Adam is the one in a billion GFG.

Before that happens, though, the top 8 contestants will perform from the catalogue of Queen, and EW can exclusively reveal the songs they’ll be singing, as well as a preview of their mentor session with current Queen frontman Adam Lambert. (He and the band will also be the focus of an ABC special, The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story, airing Monday at 8 p.m.) In the sneak peek above, the singers still in the running to be the next American Idol meet Lambert, who suggests “enhancing these performances with some real arena-rock special effects. Maybe someone wants some pyro, maybe some fire somewhere, maybe some smoke.” Will any of them take his advice? We’ll find out when they perform live, coast to coast, at 8 p.m ET/5 p.m. PT tonight. More importantly, who’s singing what? It’s a killer (queen) list: Alejandro Aranda — “Under Pressure” Alyssa Raghu — “Somebody to Love” Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon — “Who Wants to Live Forever” Laci Kaye Booth — “Love of My Life” Laine Hardy — “Fat Bottomed Girls” Madison VanDenburg — “The Show Must Go On” Wade Cota — “We Are the Champions” Walker Burroughs — “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” Then, because there’s no escape from reality (sorry, had to do it), they’ll pair up to perform classic movie duets.
