Love the performance and love the song. Adam looked great and he and the song very sexy. Promo always helps it rise on Itunes a bit but it will drop quickly with no support. And it helps with streams but not expecting promo to make a big difference in the songs run in the US. There is only so much a performance alone can do. But so far, I like everything that Adam has released (FS, NE) and glad he is not doing the same thing and is branching out in style. Looking forward to more big notes tho, lol. lurleene, I may not sound like a realist, but I am. And I try to be positive when I can. I agree that the US is not Adam's strong suit when it comes to exposure, radio play, etc. It's just a fact. It's a real challenge when there is no major label support. Adam is doing it his own way and trying his best to make it work. We might be pleasantly surprised. I think Adam does well in the US. I just meant that the songs are not going to US radio (his choice or indie label limitations) so I doubt you would see them charting even with a performance. Would love to be wrong but even with a label, his songs failed to chart when they were not released as radio singles and heavily promoted. So see no reason it would happen now. But he has a different strategy this time so will just enjoy the songs, performances and stream whatever he releases.

Sorry, it seems that my photo-hosting site doesn't work at the moment, so I haven't been able to upload the cakes for today's birthday-kids so far!
I'll try again later! Betty, much to my shame, I missed your birthday a couple of days ago. So here's a very late Alles Gute Zum Geburtstag !!!!!!
Aww, thank you so much, svca!

But I understand it, that radios are free to play his singles. That they aren’t played isn’t a choice by him or his label, it’s just that the radio stations aren’t interested in playing his latest single. And since no label is pushing it financially or by any other contracts, radio simply doesn’t play it. If his single was great and exploding on Spotify, they would probably play his single. At least, some would try it out.

Even their favorites, who get everything they release played all the time, probably have some big label money behind them. So when I said Adam's choice or indie label limitations, I meant they probably don't want to invest that kind of money to make it happen. Empire, as an indie label, certainly is not going to put up that kind of money. And radio dj's, in the US, have no power to just play a song even if they like. We have even seen some radio stations say they like the song but they are not playing it.

I don't understand the difference between radio and Spotify. For a song to "explode" in Spotify it needs to be on the big playlists, so it gets exposure, doesn't it? So what's the difference between such playlist and a radio station?

I don't understand the difference between radio and Spotify. For a song to "explode" in Spotify it needs to be on the big playlists, so it gets exposure, doesn't it? So what's the difference between such playlist and a radio station? The difference is, that you can listen to whatever music you want on Spotify. But you have to look for it. Even if it’s on a big playlist, people have to choose to listen A) to that playlist and B) to the song (you can skip it). Radio just plays along and in some occasions, you simply have to listen to it. On Spotify, a song is shared a lot and good enough to grab the attention of casual listeners, more and more people will listen to it and share it in their playlists. Adam’s songs always get on the „New Music“ playlists (At least where I live.). This is one of the biggest playlists, that shares all new releases from the current week on Friday (for a week). If people like the song, it’s possible, that it’s going to snowball. Another big factor in this is YouTube. That works similar to Spotify and brings a song out to people’s attention, so that listeners, who like it, can go and add a song to their steaming playlists. Radio is ruled by the big labels. If you aren’t with a big label, only a song, that exploded on YT or Spotify might have a chance. Since Adam is a well known singer, who does big TV shows ect, he has a chance to get played, IMO. Not on all stations, but some. And from there it could snowball as well. All it takes is a great banger. And even if it never happens: Adam is fine.

Well, as I understand it, RADIO is just out there. It's in your car, it's in the store, it's in a restaurant. You don't need to seek it out. It's just there. Spotify requires membership and the effort to play music on it. It's a contained thing.
I guess each of the two can feed on the other. If a song is played on Spotify a lot, then it might get played on radio. Maybe vice-versa. Bottom line, as we know, the DJs don't determine what is played on the radio. What they like or don't like doesn't matter. If Adam gets some radio play, especially in the US, it's a major bonus. So our best help for him is to stream and view and buy and download as we always have.
LOVE watching Adam with RuPaul! They are so comfortable together. I hope we see the rest of it where Adam is playing some kind of game. Love him and Ru with their playful little double-entendres. And yes, Adam is great with vocabulary. He is a man of many syllables and meanings. I think his home was full of clever word-play, jokes and sophisticated humor. Eber is a good example of that.

I used to make note of the more unusual vocabulary that Adam uses. I started a thread to list the words and others contributed. adamtopia.com/thread/754/adam-talking I have neglected it for a couple of years now. But, I have to mention his use of the word "salacious." Smart man! Great word. I love Adam's vocabulary !! Such a smart man. That reminds me of an incident about 10 or 15 years ago, walking to lunch with some of my coworkers...I forget what we were talking about and I used the work "impale". I didn't think it was that unusual of a word (I'm a voracious reader), but one of my coworkers told me to speak English so people could understand me....ummm....what? It is amazing how reading can expand your vocabulary, but I guess you have to be careful where you apply the knowledge lol. Adults??? I had a similar experience saying the word "delicious", but I was only in the fourth grade. I was told I should just say the food was "good."
