Had ato smile. My hometown football team, the Green Bay Packers, is notorious for its uber-passionate fans. Currently, there is a debate going on about standing at the games in the stadium. Some say standing fans are making it difficult or impossible for other fans to see the game. Children, folks who cannot stand for a long time, elderly fans. They also paid their money to attend the game and should be respected. Others say football games are supposed to be high energy and raucous. The team likes it when the crowd is loud and proud. If someone cannot stand for most of the game, then a live game is not for them. They should stay at home and watch it from their couch. The arguments sounded very familiar. I happen to be one of those folks who cannot stand for a long time. I don't think that should deny me the experience of seeing QAL live. The most recent concert I attended, there was a group of tall men in the row in front of me, and even when I stood, I could not see over their heads. I watched much of the concert on the screens, and it was frustrating. I do understand the argument for getting caught up in the moment and throwing raucous energy back to Adam and the band. For standing so one can dance and jump and feel like you are fully participating in the experience. But I am considering not going to more QAL concerts because I cannot SEE the performance live (of course the very drunk gal screaming and singing off key and falling down in the row behind me is also a disincentive). As amazing as this show was, and as other-worldly as Adam sounded live, the experience was fraught with frustration for me. Who knew that rock concert fans and football fans would be arguing over the same issue?
