I agree with you. There are so many talented singers out there, but his voice just touches my soul. A couple of the vocal coaches who have reviewed Believe talk about two attributes of Adam's voice which made a lot of sense in why it stands out. Need Cassie here but one talked about the 'compression' he uses, and the other about the "ahhh / ring" in his tone that's always present not matter what part of his range he's using, so his voice always sounds together. Is also one of the things people criticise about him. So yep it's a preference and one I happen to have I confess I am confused about the term "compression." But, I think what they are referring to is controlling the voice so that the louds are not too loud and the softs are not too soft. So you can have gentile, light vocals or belted power vocals but the volume remains constant. You don't feel like you have to turn down the sound or turn up the sound to listen comfortably. Adam is a master at this, using the mike in such a way to control it. You have all seen him with the mike barely touching his lips as he caresses the note and pulling the mike several feet away from his mouth in order to get that blast of power without frying the mike or your ears. But I have also heard "compression" used to talk about a type of singing where it is powerful, strong but not blatting or harsh belting. It has an edge or sharpness to the tone that cuts thru the background. It has a presence. Adam does this superbly without losing the quality or clarity of the sound. Adam using a natural light voice makes it sound ethereal and floating. When he compresses the sound it still sounds effortless, without strain, but it is more piercing. Someone else can correct me if I am in the wrong ballpark. As for the "ring," Adam's voice is exceptional. It is almost like a natural echo in his voice. It has to do with how he places the sound in his head, using the internal resonance of the front of his face, called the mask. (Sort of like his body's own echo chamber.) He does this constantly. When singing powerfully or singing tenderly, in his high register or low register. No wispiness, no rasp, but instead a pure ping like crystal or a bell. It involves layers of harmonics that are complimentary overtones or additions to the base note or frequency. Yeah, lots of physics involved. Too hard to explain for this girl. Think of tapping a plastic cup. It goes "clunk." No ring. No sustaining of the tone. No musicality. Then, tap a glass cup. You get a note, but it is still dull, no ring. Muddy. Then tap a goblet of fine crystal. You hear this brilliant ping, ring, that echos around itself. You can also create it by running a damp finger around the rim. That is because the goblet vibrates at the base note frequency and also with multiples of that frequency, building higher and higher. That is what Adam does/has with his voice. A myriad of compatible frequencies built over the base note. Mathematically perfect. (And for a guy who hates math and professes no talent for it. Good thing he doesn't know his voice is built on it.) It is what give his voice that richness and 3D sound. Have I confused you all? Me, too. But it sounds unearthly, we all agree.

All I know is that when I hear that "ring" it sends chills up my spine. It IS like a pure ping. Now I know what words to use to describe it when I'm trying to explain to someone what it is. I don't hear it all the time but when I do I sense that Adam is in the best vocal voice at the moment. I wish I could think of a few video's where it comes through - I know quite a few of WWTLF - can anyone think of any others? .......looking to go down the rabbit hole!

These won’t let me watch, is there something I’m not doing right? No, they were up but taken down quite quickly. In a Tweet global Citizen Said they'd keep the Videos Up for only a short time but most other things were still Up when i checked earlier this morning 😕

You can find the documentary "We are the Champions - 50 years of Queen", that was shown on German TV (VOX) yesterday, in their media library now!
I don't know if you are able to watch it outside of Germany, though ...?!

OFFICIAL VIDEOS - Global Citizen These won’t let me watch, is there something I’m not doing right? They were available when I posted them, but maybe they jumped the gun when they posted them because now they say 'private'. The videos will probably be available later.
