deb, so sorry to hear of your lay-off. It's becoming all too common. Just think, you will lots more time to enjoy all the Adam stuff! LOL And hey, this Thursday, he's going to be on The Talk, so that's a good start. Yep! I'll be watching- no DVR needed! Thank you.

I'm 65 and worried that while I continue to work from home, somehow I will not be allowed to return to the office and therefor laid off. My daughter would had loved my retiring at 66, and then taking on some child care things. But she won't pay me for that. I guess I could deal with a forced retirement, but I was hoping to last to age 70 to max out social security.

I wasn't planning on retiring at 59 either, was planning on working for as long as possible since I loved my job so much. But the bosses decided to retire, so I had no choice. Now I realize I would have had another year or so at most since I did accounting for a retail chain, and our stores wouldn't be open right now anyway. Fate works in mysterious ways I guess.

Don't get me wrong; I love my grandchildren, but I didn't want that much of a time commitment so I got myself a part time job just to keep active. I was a technical manager for years but I found a job that let me use my sewing hobby to sell and teach and I love it. Even though I was getting social security, the income from my part time work still gets added to my income and I have hit the max out even tho I retired early. Best of both worlds I guess.

Adam has such talented friends ... first Sutan won RuPaul's Drag Race, then Alisan Porter won The Voice, and tonight Johny Cota (of SkinGraft) won Making the Cut!

Even though I was getting social security, the income from my part time work still gets added to my income and I have hit the max out even tho I retired early. Best of both worlds I guess. I did the same ... retired at 60 ('cause I just couldn't face going to that job another day!) and ended up with a part-time home-based job for the next 17 years, so that more than made up for taking my social security early at 62, and provided lots of money to travel to Adam's and QAL's concerts. I learned a lesson from my Dad, he retired early at 60, and had 10 good years to travel with my Mom before he became ill, and then he died much too young at 73. They wouldn't have had that much time together if he had worked to his originally planned 67. I've been fortunate that I've had 20 good years since retirement and I'm still going pretty strong ... and I don't regret retiring early for a minute.
