I don't think Carrie has ever been one listed or at the top for greatest Idol performers or exciting contestants. What she had going for her was country radio and country fans embraced her and put her on top. When you are on the radio, no matter what you put out, you get to perform on the country award shows that seem to be on every month, lol. Your audience grows and you find yourself having most songs go #1, playing arenas and winning awards. She won more awards when Taylor got out of her way and went pop. But even tho she always got more radio play and won more awards when Taylor left, it was actually Miranda Lambert who won the more prestigious country awards and acclaim for her albums and song writing. But a win is a win and still counts. Carrie never had that much competition for the Grammy awards cause Miranda, without as much radio play, was not as big of a seller or with as many #1 country songs. So Carrie picked up a lot of Grammy's. But it is much easier to win in country than in pop. BTW, I sure hope if Adam submits Velvet for Grammy consideration that he does not try to get it in the pop category. That is just a lost cause. There have been some Indie artists to win but they seem to be in rock, alt, country and other categories. I don't know anything about the process behind the Grammy awards - do the artists actually subit their own work or are they chosen by some kind of panel?

I don't really care one way or the other if QAL record a song, but I am somewhat curious to hear what it was. Same here. If they had plans for a new song for the movie - no matter how good the result - I actually don't think that would have been received well by many "fans" seeing as Brian and Roger have already been accused of milking their/Freddie's legacy anyway... But I am curious...

But I am curious... but it would have been Brian and Rogers choice and they wanted to do it. If they left it up to those fans there would be no Adam, lol. Besides what were they going to do, not go to the movie or buy the soundtrack? There were so many new fans flocking to the movie it would have mattered little if some did not like the song. Chances are some would have like it. I think one song on a movie soundtrack would have gone over much better than them trying to do an album.

I'm not sure how Roger/Brian would be "milking" their legacy, since it's....their legacy.

I think it is the label (likely with the artist too) for submission but a panel would decide if you get the nomination. Harry Styles was played a lot on pop radio but his work was entered in the rock category. Panic at Disco had a #1 song in pop and was also submitted in the rock category. Lorde and Billie have been in rock categories. Are they really more Rock than Adam? I don't see it. All of the reviews have said Velvet has has pop, rock, funk and soul represented (Adam has said that too) so it would not be a crime if he bypassed pop, lol.

Interesting - I can kind of see Panic at the Disco in both categories - but Lorde and Billie (I'm assuming Eilish?) in rock...??

They have all been in various categories of pop, rock and alt. Adam's music is diverse too so I see no reason for him to be limited to pop where he stands no chance in hell. Submitting in different categories in no way means you will get the nomination. But if you are not there then your chances are zero.

Although I like a country song here and there, I dislike the genre as a whole. Always have. And also its dominance in the music industry. I know lots of people love country music and there are lots of variations within it. But it tends to hi-jack everything else. There is so much game-playing involved in the Grammy system. If it works in your favor, fine for you. Seems to have worked for Carrie, who I think is kind of boring. All I want is for Adam to get his shot no matter what category he is in. Lord knows he deserves a Grammy for his excellence. And Velvet is a very fine album worthy of getting Grammy notice.
