Like many of you, I’m processing the horrific examples of racism against Black community that we’ve been witnessing for a long time. While we’re fighting the Coronavirus, we must recognize that racism must be fought too. Many of us have not experienced the injustices personally but we still have the responsibility to support our colleagues, friends and communities, and to keep ourselves informed and educated to bring positive change. I cringe every time I hear someone say “I lean liberal but I vote more on the fiscally conservative side”. What it really translates to is “I might have a few black and/or gay friends but I support legislation and policies that perpetuate institutional racism and take away resources from those who have been historically underprivileged.”. Time to stop hiding behind “beliefs”, political correctness and blind acceptance of politics we were randomly born into, or no real progress will ever be made. Thanks for this post. As we have only two parties to choose from in the US, we have to support the one that can allow us to re-build for a better future for all citizens. I have no patience for anybody at this point who still identifies as a Republican as they clearly value their ideological ideas as more important than defeating the criminal in charge, along with his corrupt cult. I think we are past tolerance of political opinions. We are facing a grim situation and we have to fight for what's left of our democracy. As a German, I see way too many parallels with the dark past of my home country. Scary. ITA, tolerance of political opinions and avoiding difficult subjects and conversations is what got us to where we still stand today in first place.

Suzy, you're right. It is so important to remember that up until recently, many racist crimes of all kinds were done when no one could witness them. Now, at least some of them are recorded on cell phones. It's a big difference when the bad action is on video and is broadcast for all to see. No one can claim that nothing ever happened. I think we are witnessing a HUGE event in American history. Hopefully some meaningful change will come out of it. I'm glad you brought up the fact that crimes were committed where no one could see them. I want you all to know these crimes of race go both ways, let's not forget that. My beautiful niece who was at the time a college student, closing up after her shift at a coffee shop was robbed and raped by.... a black man. He served less than six months in jail, no one saw it but she will carry the scars the rest of her life. For those who want to blame HeWhoCannot amed for George Floyd's death please remember it happened in a state with a Democratic governor, a Democratic attorney general, a Democratic prosecutor, a city that is run by a Democratic mayor and a police union that pushes the politicians to accept the rules they want the police to work under. Maybe they should blame the weak politicians that can't stand up to the corrupt unions, oh I forgot, the union helps them get elected. As for this nonsense of HeWhoCannot amed hiding in a bunker in the White House, that is not his decision. That is the sole decision of the Secret Service who's job it is to protect the President.

ceecee - a man raped your niece and that is truly horrific and tragic. Perhaps you are married to a man, how does that make you feel?

Even those of us who have not suffered financially and will be just fine, it is hard not to look at the bigger picture. This man is a danger to the country and the world, imo. A bigger danger to minorities, LGBTQ, and those in financial need. A big threat to the rule of law. A threat to our health. A cancer. And this military threat that HeWhoCannot amed is thinking of using against US citizens is nothing short of frightening. And his party is afraid to tell him no. What more do we need to see to vote him out?

From my point of view, complacency and being "politely quiet" in order to not offend anybody kills democracy.

ceecee meanwhile the guy with the nuclear codes has served NOTHING for his sexualmisconduct!!! Rape not being punished enough is a Problem unrelated to race. Also white Guys do relatively mild sentences because mostly there is barely any evidence and it's word against word. sizzling63 i fully and totally agree!!! We are past point of tolerance. Being polite, nice, Not wanting to step on other peoples feet, being pc being diplomatic have gotten us Here. Anyone who still supports HeWhoCannot amed is either cognitive not capable to understand the harm this man has done or is fully aware of it and still supports him...well then i truly have no words left for you. The man is a liar, a fraud. He threatens Twitter because they dared to note that he made false claims about Mail in ballots, he is running a false narrative against Mail in ballots and therefore undermining the most sacret process a democracy has...VOTING!!! He is threatening to send the Military against his own people, calls govenors weak...and the list goes on and on and this was all literally just this past week!!!

Lets be very careful about doing too deep a dive into politics since this is an Adam Fan site. I am not shutting you down just asking that you choose your words wisely and also remember that scroll is your friend, if you don't care for a post, try ignoring it

This administration ended police reform programs, gutted civil rights commissions, and ended community policing programs. So, yeah, there is some fault there.

tinafea Adam himself is speaking out loudly and proudly against issues and for a cause today. So not sure how”this is Adam forum” could be used to discourage passionate political/social conversation today, of all days, when Adam himself is taking a stand.

I know that Q3 prefers that the news thread be primarily Adam focused. And I personally agree with Adam's position regarding politics but I KNOW that not all members have the same beliefs. I have been here a long time I do not want to see a debate about politics take place here that given the current climate could easily get out of hand. Ok???
