It was a lot easier in the early days, when Adam was very quiet about politics...it seemed he really made an effort to be fairly neutral, and would often say that politics are not his thing.
But these days, politics hit close to home for him, his friends...he has decided to speak out now.
It's kind of difficult, now that he is vocal about what he believes and believes in, to not be able to discuss it.

I am sure Adam would love to be able to concentrate solely on his music and his wonderful life, creative friends, his family, etc. - but, yeah, he is a whole man and I feel and respect his outrage at outrageous things (and people).

I've seen at least 2 different articles about the best albums of the year so far. Both had Velvet on the list. Can't remember where I saw these. Will try to bring them over if I find them.

Adam has been speaking about politics for a long time. He made comments about not viewing all Muslims as terrorists when they were coming under attack. Of course he has spoken about LGBT rights that have come under attack more in this administration. He played a concert to raise money in Maryland for marriage equality before it became law. He spoke out about gun control and was one of the celebrities quoted in Billboard (I think). Pulse. He vocally supported Hillary. He said he voted for Obama. He gave a wonderful speech at the Resist Protest after HeWhoCannot amed won. He gave support to BLM in the past but not as vocal as he is now. Sometimes people speak out more when they think it is needed. Adam is no different. If some failed to hear him, take him seriously, believe him, the fault is not his. He is not all fun and games, makeup and dress up and let us party. As some have said, he is a whole person. A person who hurts and feels the pain of discrimination and bigotry whether he shows it or not. I can't imagine that we would want him to walk away and act as if he is not living in this world. All so we can pretend that none of this hurts him and that he is only here for our entertainment value?

I love Brian, too - that is such a gracious acknowledgment he gives. And, I will always, always love Brian for the way he recognized and embraced Adam’s talent.

Brian sounds like he's recovering quite nicely.

I think the difficulty right now is not only, that Adam is very vocal, but also that there is not much else going on right now. Public and to a good part even private life has come to a halt. That just makes for very little Options topic wise.
Last year after Puls night Shooting i remember feeling that Adam was very personally effected by the event from what He said about it. I felt it really rattled him. His performance of wwtlf at the Isle of white was ...WOW!!

lurleene, thanks for the nice re-cap of Adam's activism during the years. He wasn't very vocal at first, but he certainly spoken out more openly about things as the years has gone on. Good for him!
We are in the midst of two major events in US history: the coronavirus and the death of George Floyd which resulted in a major social movement, bigger that we've seen in decades. Big events call for big voices to speak out. I admire Adam for using his voice.
