Very excited about the Pride event today! I hope we get A LOT of Adam! It's been quite a while since we've seen him perform!
I missed the whole political discussion last night. Very interesting. Just my few thoughts.
Good citizens are concerned about the needs of everyone, not just their own needs. "Everyone is not just like me." Health insurance is paid for by citizens in one way or another. Either in the form of premiums to a private company or in the form of a "tax" to the government, like we do with Medicare. Either way, we pay. Private isn't "always better" for everyone. We pay a lot of money for the "common good." ie. Public education even if you have no kids in school. Libraries and roads even if you never use either one.
Social and fiscal issues are both important. How we feel about them both really shows what each of us is like in our hearts and souls.
We have a leader who seems incapable of telling the truth about just about everything. He is blatantly shameless about it. He is a laughingstock overseas. Adam's gesture was a miniscule one in the great ocean of much worse examples that we see every day from our POTUS. Those slamming Adam for it aren't really his fans anyway.

Very well said with your points!! I find it hard to believe that it is Adam's fans on the attack against him. Bots and trolls most likely. There is not much chance that most of his fans only care about his music but don't care if he is treated as an equal with the same rights as the rest of us. He has a great career, and with the help of his fans, supporters and outstanding talent, has succeeded in the face of bigotry but he is human. He doesn't want to be treated as second class and not good enough to be respected for who he is and not for what some others may want him to be. Nor does he want to be dismissed and told to shut up and sing or worse to go away. So yes this election is important to him and it is for many of us. Speak out and speak loudly against this administration and the leader of this disaster. Now is not the time to worry about hurt feelings of those who don't care about anyone but themselves. They will survive just fine as they always do. Now is not the time to accept discrimination or to be tolerant of those who think he should be silent when his rights and well being are threatened. Good for Adam for speaking his mind.

My favorite line of your excellent post: "Good citizens are concerned about the needs of everyone, not just their own needs." Education is a great example. Our kids are already out of college, yet I find it so important to support and contribute toward education and affordable college. And in the end, it helps us all if all members of society are getting educated in order for them to afford a fair share in life. I strongly believe in building at the roots to help ease huge gaps in equality. It applies to pretty much everything in our society, including LGBTQ rights. Our current "leader" is certainly setting anything but a good example toward good citizenship.

Thanks for your feedback, guys.
Adam is an empathetic person. It's one of his best assets. He said early on that he was not very political. Buy, like with many of us, age and experience show us that we don't live in a vacuum. We're all on this planet together. When each of us does does well, we all benefit by it, even if it's not always obvious. It's a matter of simple human kindness. It's no sin to be rich. Look at Bill Gates and other very rich people who are always giving their money to help others. But being a rich jerk is another matter. It's possible for a nation to be prosperous and still not lose its soul. American is really struggling with that right now with no help from the top.
Adam and other celebs are speaking up. I'm glad to see it. There's hope.
