But without knowing who bought the album, and where they bought the album, and which site counts for US sales, it's kind of unfair to say that there is no interest in the US. 3 million people could have bought the album, but bought it from the wrong site/retailer, or bought it at the wrong time, and it didn't count for sales. People just find a place like Itunes or Amazon, etc. that they're comfortable with, and most don't pay attention to whether it counts for the charts or not (see Stampsgal's post above). Unless we know all the details... As long as you’re in the US and buy it from a US site or shop (ITunes or whatever), it counts. It worked in all the other countries. I doubt that’s the problem. It‘s just a bit shocking to see, that even Queen‘s „Greatest Hits“ on #40 is in front of „Live around the World“ (#56) on the Billboard 200.

If you don't have songs on the radio in the US or huge streaming numbers, promotion is the only way to push album sales. Only fans who are following closely are doing to know you have a great album out. That is why some of us were wishing for more US promotion. Without it many will not even know. Even then many bought from the UK because they had more to offer. I tried to buy from Target but they sold out early in the pre-sale. I kept checking back and saw the had Bon Jovi and Mariah (their sales were better but not by that much) on sale thru out but not LATW. They said check back on the release date. I did, and was finally able to purchase from them, but how many are going to do that? But QAL got the results they wanted from the places they pushed so I'm more than happy for them. I still don‘t get, how the numbers can be so low, when they played a huge, sold out tour just last year. The movie „Bohemian Rhapsody“ has been a big success in the US. I mean, there hadn’t been promo for this album in Germany either. The last tour was 2 years ago with only 3 concerts, that didn’t even sell out completely. Still, the album debuted on #5. It looks a bit like there are no Queen fans in the US, since the numbers are similar to Adam’s release of „Velvet“. Well, I‘m happy about the album itself and about the success. But the sudden lack of interest in the US I can’t understand. Maybe you should not try to measure the US by Germany. And Germany is in Europe so I would think they would hear more about a Queen album there. Album sales/single sales in the US are going to be driven by radio exposure, streaming and/or promotion. They had a sold out tours in the US (more dates than they had in Germany) because there is interest. Adam does better with his concerts even if his sales don't indicate that. The interest is here for them but unfortunately the promotion was not but it was their choice. No need to make more of it than it is. It wasn't promoted much. But they did well in places that it was.

my two cents, people don't buy music here. They stream it or watch you tubes.
