A fun first page today! Love the old-lady fan cartoon! Here's to a loooong, lovely career for Adam! I never get tired of the reviews and "analyses" of Adam's "Believe." It's one of the highlights of his career so far. I really hope that song (among others of his) gets a Grammy nom. He deserves it SO MUCH. Not to mention an actual WIN!. He is so long overdue for real Grammy recognition. And anyone who follows Adam on Twitter but doesn't want him to express his political views can just scroll on by them. Adam is a human being first. His celebrity doesn't deny him the right to state his opinion. I agree. And it really seems silly to think Adam would not be concerned about things that will have an impact on his life and his equality. I guess is it easy for some to ignore, and expect him to also, cause they think they will be fine either way. Tho I'm sure Adam's concern is for others as well and he has every right to voice his opinion. I would love to see Adam get Grammy consideration. But when he was nominated for WWFM, there was a separate category for pop male and female solo performances. Since that time, they have made it one category. The women dominate and it cuts down dramatically on the number of opportunities. The last time it was Lizzo and Bille all the time. But the year before that, I sorta felt bad for Ed Sheeran. He was up against Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Kesha and some other females. He won and the Pink and Clarkson fans went BSC and how dare he beat the women. It did not matter that he had been more successful on the charts than them. But I think a lot of the men who do well on pop also have an audience in other genres which helps. The Weeknd, Panic at the Disco, Sam, Ed, Bieber, Bruno, etc. also compete in more male friendly genres and charts like R&B, Rhythmic, alt and rock. They reach a wider audience and are not stuck just going up against the pop divas. Adam has been out there more than 10 years, and has a diverse catalog of work and is more talented than many. But for some reason he has never been able to expand his brand to include anything other than the pop category. He has had beautiful ballads, soulful and rockish tunes. He should have been reaching a more diverse audience. IDGI. Who determines the categories he is put into? If it's his team or Adam himself, I really don't understand.

It's a whole lot of game-playing. And gypsyladee, it's a very good question as to who determines which genre you are put in. I know it an be multiple one for different things. Does the artist decide? Do the Grammy peeps decide? Either way, the whole system often leaves well-deserving artists like Adam in the dust every time. I totally get it that the "new star of the year" will be a bunch of awards. Doesn't mean they're not talented. Just means that the whole awards thing is not always based on talent, or in the case of the Grammys, the quality of a song. I just think Adam deserves a Grammy without question for all the right reasons. That being said, some of the biggest stars in music, both solo artists and bands, never got a Grammy. So there you go.

I can’t listen to Adam singing “Believe” without crying. It is not just the way he makes the lyrics resound with the pain of heartbreak and the resilience of spirit. It’s because his talent is always a celebration of artistry. I love him, and - for me - what he says about What is in the news right now and about most issues he chooses to “opine upon” - is always spot on.

I was not so much talking about now as an indie cause that will be hard no matter what. He is not really on the radio much at all now. But when he was with a major, they would have been the ones to get him on some other charts besides just pop. Some of the acts like 21 Pilots and Panic did very well on the pop charts but they win awards in alt and rock which are less competitive. They are not exactly hard rock so are they any more rock than Adam? Weeknd and Bruno win in pop but a lot of R&B also. Now that Adam is idie I doubt it even matters. Tho smaller genres are more likely to nominate those who don't sell a lot or are not on a major than pop would.

Ok, two that aren't Believe. Vocal prowess aficionados I think will like this first one and it discusses voice and technique during the Fire Fight concert.
And this one is a flip the light switch on after watching the QAL documentory

I don't get that sentiment either, that celebrities shouldn't post about politics. They're (presumably) tax payers and have just as much to win or lose as the rest of us when it comes to voting and politics. If everyday joe citizen can post every single opinion on facebook, twitter and everywhere else...why shouldn't celebrities? Ultimately, I think it is more about tweeter than about Adam. I can only think that Adam's platform shines an uncomfortable light on the tweeter's opinions and that they would prefer not to have to deal with their own contradictions. This twitter thread (I will only post the link) is one of the best most thoughtful responses from a Mormon influencer to the "stay in your lane" commenters. There are 26 tweets in this thread and they all matter. Design Mom
