Almost seems like today's thread was a bit like when my brother and I were stuck in the car together on a long drive, a bit sick of it and slightly bored so we would needle each other. We have been here before, it does get boring waiting for Adam to give us new music. And just a friendly reminder (as a moderator) SCROLL is your friend although there isn't much to scroll through. As long as the topic is related to Adam, members are free to express their opinion. If you disagree, state your opinion but lets not comment one way or the other about the person who made the post.

New Flaunt Magazine Article
May 18, 2017 Adam Lambert Before Adam Lambert can even sit down at a sidewalk café in L.A.’s downtown Arts District, he’s greeted by name by a trio of 20-something guys at a nearby table. Unfortunately, it’s not his name. They call him Adam Levine. “I get that once in a while because we’re both Adam L.,” says Lambert, laughing it off. “It kills me though because apparently, he doesn’t know who I am.” Hold up. The Maroon 5 frontman and judge on The Voice doesn’t know who Adam Lambert is? But they’re on the pop charts together and even share a producer – Swedish hitmaker Max Martin – how can that be? “Once on The Voice, somebody sang ‘Whataya Want from Me,’” Lambert explains, referring to his Grammy-nominated hit from 2010, “and Adam Levine’s like, ‘I don’t know who originally sang that but you did it better’.” Wow, that’s like a double-ouch. “It was a low-key shady moment,” agrees Lambert. “But it was also kind of funny.” If there’s anyone who appreciates a bit of humor with his pop stardom, it’s Lambert. “I love a little irony or a tongue in cheek moment,” says the singer. That applies to his personal style as well. Today, he’s having an “autumnal, earth-tone moment” in oversized olive “janitor pants,” a butterfly-print shirt, long copper trench coat and lava-colored aviators. “It’s very easy for artists, myself included, to go super emo with their songwriting and get very deep and dark. And there’s room for that,” muses Lambert who got his first taste of the spotlight performing in musicals in his hometown of San Diego. “But sometimes I feel like there’s a lack of comedy. Especially right now, we need songs that are going to help people escape and get through this crazy political time that we’re in.” Lambert’s knack for not taking himself too seriously is part of what makes him the perfect fit for his ongoing side gig: filling in for the late, great Freddie Mercury in the rock band Queen. After a smash tour in 2014-2015 that took them everywhere from Saskatoon, Canada to Rio, Brazil, Queen + Adam Lambert are reuniting this summer for a 25-city North American tour. “Freddie was a god and it’s an honor to be carrying his torch into this era,” says Lambert who first performed with remaining members Brian May and Roger Taylor on the Season 8 finale of American Idol, the show that introduced Lambert to the world in 2009. “In the beginning, I was intimidated and concerned, like ‘Are fans of Queen going to accept me? Am I capable of singing all this music?’ But slowly but surely, I grew into it. For this tour, we have the challenge of reinventing the show with different songs and arrangements and fun rock band toys like lighting effects and flames and video content. And of course, I’ll get into the whole fashion thing.” Lambert’s rule of thumb when it comes to putting his Queen look together is ‘What would Freddie do?’ “I want the look to fit their music and be sort of retro,” he explains before bringing up a photo on his iPhone of a pair of ’70s-esque Balenciaga platform boots he recently bought online. “I got the silver ones and they’re amazing,” he reports. “Now I want the snakeskin ones.” Lambert draws the line, however, at a Freddie Mercury ’70s porn-stache. “To get that look, the hair has to grow over the lip,” he explains. “It’s a little germ-y for me.” The fact that Lambert is openly gay adds resonance as well. “It kind of completes the equation,” he says. “One of the things that made Freddie special was this part of his personality and if he were alive today, I have a feeling he would be out and proud without giving a fuck. It inspired some of his music. Whether he was wrestling with that part of himself or owning it and being proud, I don’t think he would have been the dynamic performer that he was if he didn’t have that conflict in his life.” Mercury died of AIDS in 1991, something Lambert has discussed at length with May and Taylor. “I’ve really wracked their brains about their experiences with Freddie,” he says. “At the time people didn’t know much about the disease but I heard from them that Freddie was very much like, ‘I’m not going to let this ruin my life.’” Lambert thinks about that defiance whenever he sings the Queen power-ballad “The Show Must Go On,” which was released as a single just six weeks before Mercury died. “It’s so poignant and dramatic because all of the lyrics are like, ‘I’ve got to go on. I’m not going to let this stop me’ and in order to make it work, you have to kind of go there,” says Lambert. “Singing it takes everything in me. Sometimes I’m dizzy when it’s over.” With the release of his 2012 album Trespassing, Lambert became the first openly gay artist to have a Number 1 album in the U.S. Sure, Elton John, Ricky Martin, and George Michael all had Number 1s before him but they were still in the closet. “When I heard that statistic, it kind of surprised me,” admits Lambert. “It’s a pretty amazing thing to be able to tell my nephew or godson about someday.” Did he ever consider playing it straight or being one of those ‘I don’t talk about it’ kind of celebrities? “From the start, I had not a thought in my mind that I would ever try to hide or lie about my sexuality,” he says. “I’m so boy-crazy I don’t think you could keep it a secret anyway. I’m very outward in terms of my crushes.” On the topic of this issue’s parallel theme of heartbreak, the currently single Lambert admits that “wine and weed” have often helped him deal with a broken heart. “It’s a tricky balance though,” he cautions. “Too much can push you further into the darkness.” Lambert adds that he’s just as likely to get his heart broken by a professional disappointment as he is by a romantic one. “I invest myself so fully into my work that if an outcome doesn’t match my expectations, it hits me very hard,” he admits. “Being an entertainer, you get kind of obsessive about your journey, your career. If you’re driven, which you have to be, you’re constantly looking for the next thing and it’s hard to feel satisfied. So I’m starting to challenge myself to appreciate where I’m at in the moment more.” Does playing to throngs of adoring fans with Queen help with that, offering a bit of relief from the pressures of the ever-changing music business? “That’s a really good way to put it, yeah,” he says. “It’s kind of foolproof.” And when he’s back on the road this summer he’ll get to have lots of encounters with his current favorite sub-group of Lambert fans: female flight attendants. “They are always super sweet to me,” he says. “I think it’s because they see my name on the passenger manifests in advance.” Do they hook him up with lots of special perks, like unlimited booze and cookies? “It’s usually the big bottle of water that I want and that is very sacred on an airplane,” he explains. “When I ask for it, they’re usually like, ‘No, but I’ll refill your glass.’ But if I charm the right flight attendant, she’ll give me the whole big bottle.” Chew on that, Adam Levine. NEW iHeart Radio Interview From National Concert Day Adam Lambert on Lady Gaga + First Time on the Radio | Exclusive Interview www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEHkShdx2CcAdam Lambert Is On Point For The Buzzfeed Queer PromTom & Lorenzo As in the case of his fellow prom chaperone, we question the sheer blouse, but the rest of it is incredibly on point for a queer prom. Then again, sheer blouses are pretty much on point as well, we suppose. At any rate we love the hair, love the jacket and especially love the bigass ring, which makes a surprisingly good bit of punctuation for the entire look. We feel a little let down by the footwear choice, but we will find a way to pick up the shattered pieces of our lives and move on. tomandlorenzo.com/2017/05/adam-lambert-at-the-1st-inaugural-queer-prom-for-lgbt-youth-los-angeles/In Case You Were Wondering....Adamtopia CalendarJune 2, 2017 Soundtrack released, Movie opening. Let's keep in mind that JH and KC won't be judging during the same Voice season - one in the fall, the other in the spring - so no idea where Adam would even fit in. But I think Lyndsey is highly aware of it and knows it won't happen - she probably just wanted to stir things up a bit. My favorite part of the article: "Side note: Clarkson and Hudson’s Voice hiring may seem like the ultimate Idol burn, but in a weird way, it’s a compliment. After all, The Voice has not generated a single superstar worthy of being a panelist on any rival reality show."Excellent point! It's curious that after all these years of The Voice, they don't have ONE alum who they're looking at the be a panelist on their own show. The Voice has not produced one major star. On the other hand, right after Adam's season on Idol, he was very quickly asked if he was going to be a judge for the very next year. He was the first alum to be a mentor. And on and on. Can't figure out why The Voice has lasted as long as it has. but then again, we know that it's not about the contestants, is it? It's about the judges/mentors. I want Idol for Adam's benefit. Period. I watch the Voice , the record company is not interested in getting a star. The judges are the star of the show, not the contestants. Which is fine as long as you watch it with that in mind. I am not a country music fan but I think some of the country artists might have done alright on the country charts. Blake has taken some of them under his wing.

One thing that just occurred to me. As a Voice viewer, it isn't usual that they would announce who the judges are a year in advance (Kelly). I wasn't expecting any Idol announcements for awhile but perhaps I'm wrong about that. The Voice may be trying to get theirs out before ABC does their big reveal.

Now that JHud and Kelly C are both going to The Voice, I feel less inclined to want Adam on Idol. If he wants it and they want him, then he should go for it of course. But the worrier side of me wonders if a redesigned Idol can compete favorably with The Voice at this point. I would hate to see him on Idol and then it get cancelled :(. I would watch if he were on of course, and I don't like The Voice, but I know many who watch it now...... I am a Voice watcher. I would think that they would not be on competing nights so I don't think it would be a problem. My gut is that ABC will go with "big names" as judges.

Now that Idol came up again I am getting invested again...darn it! Kelly seems like the obvious choice if only one Idol alum gets picked for the judging panel, but then again if they really want to come back in a "bolder" format Adam should be the one or at least be in it. I think I will blindly stick to my fantasy of an all Idols alum panel as that increases Adam's chances, unless he gets asked to be a mentor. I'm fine with industry people/experts on the sidelines or behind the scenes haha. I'm pretty sure that Adam would like the job - he really enjoyed X-Factor AU and that was a good chunk of time away from home and between major commitments. How many more months do we have to discuss this? I hope that the judges are announced SOON. I don't want it speculated and dragged on until fall or whenever they actually start auditions, etc. I'd love to watch Adam on TV every week. LOVE IT! Not sure I'll watch w/o him. If not judge, maybe mentor (altho that doesn't really thrill me because of less TV face time, but he would be fantastic) and we know hell be on at least once to promote a new song. I doubt they will announce it soon and I won't bother speculating on whether Adam is a judge or not. Obviously he is more than capable but I doubt that is a big deal to the powers that be. If he wants it and gets it, great. If not, he will have other irons in the fire. It's entirely possible that it's too soon and it won't do well and then we would be sorry he was tied down to it.

Official Confirmation of American Idol Return on ABCAmerican Idol @americanidol This…is #AmericanIdol--coming to @abcnetwork in 2018! There was quite a bit of press about the return of AI, Adam was frequently mentioned on the short list of alums that could be judges. Most of the articles can be found in the 5.9.17 news thread. I will post the TV Guide story as an example4 Burning Questions About the American Idol RevivalBy Liam Mathews | May 9, 2017 ABC is officially bringing back American Idol for a 16th season (and beyond?). Details are scant at this point, as they ink is still drying on the deal between ABC and producers FremantleMedia North America and 19 Entertainment, but it's never too early to speculate. Here are the answers we want to some burning questions. 1. Who should the judges be? I would be surprised if any of the old judges return. ABC probably wants to do their own version of the show with their own people. If any of the final group of judges comes back, it would be Keith Urban; Jennifer Lopez has her World of Dance show on NBC and Harry Connick Jr. has his daily talk show, also produced by NBC. Of the classic era judges, Simon Cowell is probably out -- he's busy with America's Got Talent, another NBC production (it should be noted that NBC passed on picking up the Idol reboot). Maybe Paula Abdul or Randy Jackson could be persuaded to come back, though, if the money is right. Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are definitely out. Among new people who might be brought in, it might be instructive to look at who has an existing relationship with ABC's parent company Disney. There's former Disney Channel star Demi Lovato, who's currently signed to Disney's record label Hollywood Records (in partnership with Universal's Island and Republic Records, though, hmm). She has experience judging a reality show, appearing on Cowell's Idol knock-off The X Factor in 2012 and 2013. She's even performed on American Idol before. If they want to bring in a successful Idol alum, they could go with Adam Lambert. Queen is signed to Hollywood Records, and he's been fronting the legendary rock band since 2014.
Bringing in a past winner or prominent alum as a judge would be a great way to honor the show's history while going in a new direction. Other than Lambert, though, there are only a few who would be big enough, and even fewer who may want to do it. Kelly Clarkson would probably be a great Idol judge, if she wants to be. Maybe Chris Daughtry could do it? He could be a guest advisor, at least. If they want a country guy, they should get Luke Bryan. If they want a music industry guy, they should get pop rainmaker Scooter Braun. If they want a superstar who will blow up social media every time she makes a face, the only option is to back up the Brinks truck for Rihanna. If not, Pink would work. 2. Will Ryan Seacrest be back as host? Maybe! The timing is interesting. Seacrest just joined the ABC family in a big way as the co-host of Live with Kelly and Ryan. Kelly Ripa wants him to do Idol, and when he talked about the revival on Live he didn't say he doesn't want to do it. The thing is, he's in New York now, and Fremantle is reportedly adamant American Idol stays in Los Angeles. But that seems negotiable. Seacrest is also busier than he was a year ago now that he has Live, and he just might not have time to do it. Still, it's hard to imagine American Idol without Ryan Seacrest. He's been there from the very beginning, and it launched him into ubiquity. I would be more surprised if ABC goes with someone else. And who might that someone else be? Brian Dunkleman, of course! 3. When will it air? ABC hasn't set any airdate beyond sometime during the 2017-18 season, though TMZ reported that they're aiming for a March 2018 premiere. With The Bachelor franchise and Dancing With the Stars, ABC's schedule is pretty full of unscripted hits as it is, so it'll be a bit of a challenge to find the right place for Idol. It could end up being a summer show that competes with Cowell's America's Got Talent on NBC and Fox's So You Think You Can Dance. Or it could anchor Sundays, a night ABC has struggled with, especially if Once Upon a Time doesn't come back or gets a shortened seventh season. It may not be and definitely shouldn't be two nights a week like it used to be. 4. Is it a good idea? Who knows! It was canceled due to falling ratings, but the final season was still watched by an average of 11 million people per episode, a very respectable number for 2016. It will never regain its mid-'00s peak when 30 million people watched it, but ABC probably understands that, and Fox apparently didn't. Numbers-wise, it still had life left in it when it was canceled. The issue of "should this be happening?" is more of an existential one. American Idol hasn't launched a star in nearly a decade, and it's had its thunder stolen by imitators like The Voice and Dancing With the Stars. It looks tacky to bring it back so soon after it ended. We've barely had a chance to miss it yet. But hey, with the right panel of judges and a strong field of performers, it could surprise us by becoming vital again. www.tvguide.com/news/american-idol-revival-burning-questions/Celebration to the Beginning of Summer Concert Season with 'National Concert Day' www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1LKVV7i-mg(Adam's part begins at 2:17)
