Very good analysis of the situation, juniemoon! I wish everyone on the internet would ask themselves the questions you posed. We're all entitled to our opinions, but anonymity shouldn't make us toss aside our civility.
I've never understood how or why so many people on the internet think it's fun or cool to say horrible things about or to someone else. Being hateful is not cool, and it doesn't make the perpetrators any more powerful, richer, or more good looking than they already are - in fact, it diminishes them.
juniemoon, your article gives some insight into what motivate people to make hate comments and it was interesting reading. But when I see so much hate directed toward Adam, who is so much about love and acceptance and connecting with others, I feel really disappointed in what the human race is up to these days. Even Fred Rogers (Misterogers), who was unfailingly positive in even the worst situations, famously said that the only thing that made him angry was seeing one person demean another.
Misterogers also said, "The best thing you can offer anyone is your honest self." That is exactly the gift Adam gives all of us, every day, even his critics and detractors. And that's one of the things that's most unique about Adam, and that I love in him.
, in some of the other stuff I researched, I learned that some of the chemical reactions, etc. in the brain produced by hate can be shockingly similar to those produced by love, and can serve as a substitute for love for emotionally stunted people. Pretty scary stuff. It's like geezlouise said -- gay, straight, young, old, male, female, you have to be secure with your shit to understand what Adam is doing right in front of our eyes. Not everyone is capable of seeing. We ARE the lucky ones. |

@ukglambert lol I don't understand but 7080 copies sold of NCOE, 3869 sold of Trespassing so far....[My note: don't worry about the "I don't understand" in that last tweet, that was in response to a tweet that is irrelevant here] I presume this person is an "insider" which explains he's able to acquire the numbers before the reveal of the official Wed. Midweek Chart. If so, 7080 is about 2 days' sale and 3869 is just from 1 day, then they're damn good, considering how saturated the UK market is and who Adam is competing with, and his current profile status in the UK. Yes, I know the single is largely due to the "fan buying campaign" but it's a strategy to get him visible on the chart and noticed by the radio, then we fans got to do what we got to do. Right now, the single is still holding at #15 and the album at #28 on UK iTunes overall. Honestly, I didn't think NCOE could crack in to top 20 even with our fan efforts, I mean, all those songs ahead of NCOE are pretty much big everywhere and played to death by the radio everywhere. I'll be very pleased and ecstatic to see NCOE hold its own (organic or inorganic) within top 20 till this Sunday! A side note, Carrie's Blown Away was #10 on her debut Midweek Chart but wound up at #11 on the official album chart; her single "Good Girl" didn't make it on either chart, despite R2's spinning and a much bigger AI impression than NCOE. |
