I was mostly happy with the picks too and I was pleasantly surprised with the talent and poise of most of the contestants. I haven't decided on a favourite yet. One benefit of living in Canada and not being able to vote is you can watch it with an impartial eye. I'd be interested in any inside info too. I love anecdotes.

I watch every show. I love me some Idol!! I was actually at last night's show. It was very, very emtional! Great to be there live! Cool! I'm watching too. Other than Shannon, I'm pretty happy with the top 13. Any inside info you can give us from seeing it live? I agree. I think Shannon took Jen's spot. But it was America's vote. Nigel and Mike Darnell (head of FOX programming) were VERY involved in the deliberations of the wild card choices with the judges. |

Interesting about the wild card choice. I thought the women were overall stronger than the men and I was surprised with the choices. I guess JLo got her choice though.

I don't disagree with the judges choices at all. I have liked Jeremy's voice since auditions. I think he has a beautiful tone. Do I think he can win? "No!" I was not happy with America voting in Shannon and Heejun because I don't think either one got voted in for their singing. But what are ya gonna do, right? ??? |

I agree about Jeremy. I can't remember the name of the guy they put through, but I find all the hair flipping annoying. I liked Jen and thought she had a great voice -- but didn't think she could win either.

I missed the first half...other than the recaps...will watch that shortly. I really think the talent is much superior to the last couple of years [other than Hayley]...of the last half, Jessica definitely killed it but it is Phillip Phillips album that I would probably buy, at the moment! That is one talented dude!!
but the season is young and they have a good bunch of singer's this time....fun to watch, so far...

I vowed I wouldn't watch again, but Jessica Sanchez was exceptional tonite. All in all the girls seemed good and a couple are actually a little interesting. The judges also at least tried and MJ Blige was a very, very good mentor. I won't watch every week, but I did not feel second hand embarrassment at all.

I thought MJ Blige did a very good job tonight and Jessica was really impressive. I personally don't care for the jenlo guy but I really liked his voice tonight.

I am liking quite a few of them tonight....they are doing a really good job I think. I really think the best ones ... to me... are Jessica and Joshua, Phillip and Coulton.....I also really like Jeremy's voice tho I don't think he will make it much past 9 or 10....lots of the other are good too, just that these stood out for me as either spot on in the vocals [Jessica] or really unique [Joshua]. (hope I have the names right...it is hard when you haven't got to know them well yet).
What makes me really happy is that I think any one of them could outsing all of season 9 and most of season 10!!! yay!!!

1AM and I just finished watching.
AI's got talent and voices this season!
I really enjoyed the show and I haven't said that since May 20, 2009.
No one, in particular, struck me the way Adam did, but I am struck by the fact that AI's got real singers, again.

And OMG, the judges actually judged!! I think they did a good job except for criticizng Elise for her song choice when it was Iovine who chnanged her song! I thought they were too hard on her.
Shannon was awful! Hope she is the one that goes home tonight.

Same opinions as you guys. The judges actually judged. Iovine was right on - except for Elise. I think she sings great also. The right guy went home. Love Hollie and Erika also. Jessica was amazing, but there is something about her................. I'm reading a lot of those Pia pageant comments. I hope not, because the girl can sing. I really really hope that a girl wins this year. So far, none of the guys stand out for me. I'm no getting all the excitement about Phillip Phillips. All in all, lots of real talent this year. It's about time.
