You may. I agree. I'm suffering from a severe case of second-hand-embarrassement at the moment. You are certainly entitled to your opinion but I'd like to say that I signed Sauli's birthday card and I'm not embarrassed about it any more than it embarrasses me to wish happy birthday to posters on this board that I know less about than I do Sauli. I don't see why it is any more embarrassing to wish Sauli happy birthday than it is to do so for Adam. We may only know about Sauli because of Adam but that doesn't mean we can't decide whether or not we like him on his own merits. Sauli is a celebrity in his own right and has a public life just as Adam does and everything I've seen indicates he is a very nice guy and for me personally wishing him happy birthday has nothing to do with the fact that he is dating Adam and more to do with the fact that I just find him likable. There may very well be people trying to get Adam's attention by being nice to Sauli but why are we worrying about their motivations? Is anybody hurt by a birthday wish? There are artists I only know about because Adam has mentioned them should I not be allowed to be fans of theirs simply because I didn't discover them on my own? I hope this doesn't sound too harsh but it seems that on message boards in general people are very quick to make judgements about others and often we don't even realize we are doing it. I'm no less guilty of it than any one else but being a fan of Adam has made me notice it a whole lot more and it is something I am trying to work on. There is a fine line between giving a different opinion and passing judgement on others for their opinions. I'd just like us all to remember to think about that. I agree with this. For an example, I only know about Cheeks because of Adam, but I've come to be a fan of his apart from his connection to Adam. I think many of us are fond of Sauli because he seems like such a happy, funny person--even not speaking his language I get a sense of playfulness and geniality from the Tutka videos--and I have no problem with those who want to wish him a happy birthday. It doesn't make them cray-cray.

Right there with you. Can't be worse than the electronic b'day card though. Yikes!! Nothing says Happy Birthday Man My Favorite Celebrity is Fucking like an e card!! LMAOOOOOOOOO Funny. But, OTOH, I don't remember a card going around for The Duck's birthday.

I always get the number off his home page. Figured that would be the most up to date. Which number is higher when you get the 2 figures? The highest number I get is when I refresh his home page, and the lowest number is when I click on his name in one of his tweets and get the half-page off to the side. It just dawned on me why that's the lowest. I'm getting the number of followers he had when he sent the tweet. Damn, you are smart!!!

I would bet that 99% of the people signing the card or trying to trend "Sauli" would not know who Sauli was if he wasn't dating Adam. Now, Sauli trending in Finland I could totally understand. Still seems silly to me. But I tend to shy away from things like this anyway, so it's probably just me.

Of course, there's no harm in a birthday wish. Getting a birthday card from his OWN fans would be really nice. But I would bet that the large majority of Adam fans are ONLY interested in him because of Adam. Even if they really like him for his own personality. I don't see a problem with anyone who wants to wish him a happy birthday on an individual level. The fandom-wide effort just seems tacky to ME. JMHO.
