Lol! I know I'm in the minority and probably the only one in this forum who thinks American Idol is a lame gig. I know this forum is filled with American Idol die hards and TV watchers. I never got into the show (can you tell ) But it's all good. But excuse the grin when Adam doesn't get it We each have our view points. I am not an American Idol die hard. In fact I've never watched the show before Adam and never did after Adam. I'm also not a TV watcher. But what you're saying about the judges and what the others are saying are based on facts. And the facts like tigerlily posted are saying that AI helped their careers. Xtinas was dead before AI.

I think it hurt Xtina & Tyler. Not so much JLo because she was never taken seriously in as a singer anyway.. Tyler lost a lot of cred amongst his fan base. He lost some in my eyes too. They start to lose credibility as singers and become TV personalities. I don't think Xtina will ever recover her singing career fully. Levine saves himself because he is part of a band. Xtina had her flop before she became judge. Levine's music blew up after. Tyler's fans are all about cred and he hadn't made any music I heard since his daughter was in that movie. Adam came about because of a TV show and he's always embraced it. #itsnotgoodnews
Credibility among fans seems to depend on whether they think an artist is relevant. Also, fans will allow artists to experiment with their sound and will forgive one or two not-so-great releases, but too many misfires (especially consecutive ones) will hurt the artist's cred. If an artist hasn't made any new music recently (like Tyler) or if their latest offerings don't come across as current (Xtina), they lose cred. Artists who stay fresh and keep putting out good music retain their cred.
Let's take David Bowie as an example. He hasn't put out any new music in a LONG time, but still has plenty of cred because his old songs are considered classics. If he suddenly released a new album of quality songs, his cred would be enhanced. But if his new album was crap (and if he continued to release more stuff people weren't connecting with), his long-term reputation with fans would take a big hit.

How long did it take after Shosh tweeted until it was a WW trend? Less than 30 minutes

I've never watched it (only Adam's performances). For me it's all about Adam - he wants it then I want it for him. exactly. The man said he wants it. I leave it to him and his management to decide if it is "good" or not career wise. So far he came across as a person equipped with a decent IQ and a support system with decent IQ as well... In short - praying to all gods for the AI thingy to come thru...

Idol has its advantages -- 20 million people, two times a week + a ton of press/media coverage + online buzz. (Plus there is the money and it is in LA.)
Being on Idol also has some potential disadvantages BUT since Adam rose to fame on Idol, he already has the "Idol" label associated with him. So there are fewer disadvantages for him vs. a non-alum.
Seems like more in the win column for Adam.
For fans, it means that the tour which prob would not have started before late Spring would start in June. BUT we would get to see him 2X a week for over 4 months. That is a lotta Adam.
Plus, he would be a great judge.

He has the distinct advantage of having his entire band living within 30 minutes of him and the Idol studio within 30 minutes of him and LAX within 30 minutes of him and.... should I go on?! LOL!

I can come up with exactly ZERO drawbacks for Adam. I can come up with exactly ZERO drawbacks for Adam's fans.
