I hate to interrupt all this joyful squeeing over last night (I was doing the same), but I have a bit of disappointing news. For ME anyway. WAEB Allentown has been very supportive of Adam for both WWFM & IIHY. I requested the remix once a day last week and hadn't heard it so I emailed the PD today asking if he heard it and what he thought of it. Here's his reply: "Hate it. It's no If I Had You"e] So now I can't really request it anymore. I wonder how many other PDs/DJs feel that way. :( Sorry - had to vent. Carry on. Probably many PDs. It is too long for most Top 40/CHR stations to play -- 5:25. That takes up the time of two hit songs to play. PDs are pushing for songs under 3:00 not over 5:00. And it is not the right audio profile/structure for FM Pop radio. The lack of a radio edit indicates to me that 1. Adam really wanted it to be a Club hit and is pushing radio requests to build some momentum/awareness of the song as a dance club track OR 2. He likes it this way. 3. They Adam/RCA/19 really are not expecting it to get much US airplay and Adam's push is for other markets not North America where the commercial pressures are less difficult to deal with and they have more flexibility. In any case, be thankful that there are some stations playing this song on the radio.

To me, Sauli does not appear to be as fem as Drake and Brad Bell (who is extremely effeminate), neither of whom were shy about public affection. He seems physically stronger, masculine, and into athletics, running, gym activities, according to his bio. Maybe he prefers the touchy feely stuff to be in private? Or maybe he is coming from a European point of view. He was very affectionate with Niko on BB, but who knows how much of that was play-acting out a Bromance for the camera. Adam and Sauli sure look good together, though. sigh............ Strikes me that Sauli must be a breath of fresh air to Adam after the plastic environment of WeHo and the pretentious gay culture there. In fact he did say he was tired of it in an interview with one of the gay magazines, sorry cannot remember which. So glad he met Sauli. Um, I don't know Adam, obviously (sobs ) but he seems very happy with his "Weho" circle of friends, going to many of the same clubs he's gone to all his adult life, including some totally crazy-ass cabaret style shows, like the Mr. Black shows, which seem to involve both tuxes ("pretentious"?) and ass-less pants ("weho gay"?) and loving the heck out of them. He seems to adore many of his more "flamboyant" friends, still, and still be very involved in that scene. Don't know much about his exes, either, but I'd put my money on Drake in a physical fight between him and Sauli, LOL, and I know that Brad both participates in distance races and long bike races, and that he's a big football fan. I also know plenty of big, burly, sportsloving, athletic men (my hubby is one of them) who LOVE to show affection in public. So I'm not sure I follow. I believe the article you're referring to is the OUT interview, in which Adam says many thoughtful and nuanced things, some of which have to do with the limitations and stereotypes that exist within as well as without the gay scene, and about how, naturally, within that scene, as in any scene, things can get a little repetitive and claustrophobic sometimes, and features and habits can get exaggerated, but that's hardly abandoning a world that has provided him with so much artistic inspiration. I confess I've had to laugh a few times when someone on this blog has mentioned that Sauli is somehow butcher than Adam's usual tastes in men, cause I don't really see it at all, and I swear I could have picked the guy out of a line up of fifty as the one Adam would fall for, LOL, but I don't care one way or the other: I love him to bits. I certainly, however, would hesitate before interpreting their relationship as some sort of rejection of Adam's WeHo roots. He took the kid to cirque-bizerk, after all. So while I, too, am extremely happy that Adam found Sauli in some Helsinki night club, I respectfully have to disagree with this analysis! Edited for clarityThis probabably already answered already, but I remember this interview. It was in a gay magazine right after the whole AMA mess. They had some kind of petition going on to either get Adam back on ABC or to talk about the injustice of their actions (don't fully remember the reason) to rival that 1500 complaint that ABC had. This is also the interview that he was talking about the Logo channel. Adam was saying that he was tired of the whole gay scene, I'm not sure if he actually said WeHo or not but I think he did, because he was talking about everyone seemed so pretentious and that everyone slept around with everyone, and that he was enjoying more of a mix crowd, or mix clubs instead of just gay clubs.

I did not say that Sauli is superior because he is more "butch". Plase re-read my thread. I said Sauli's world view is different than WeHo guys, Europeans think differently than we do, they travel extensively, they speak more languages, they have different family values, and in my opinion, that would fascinate our BB, who is easily bored, and more importantly, loves to learn. Wow, what a tough crowd, but, of course I respect all your opinions. I will quit now, and not upset anyone else hahah You certainly haven't upset me. I am not familiar with any of Adam's past boyfriends so feel no need to jump to the defense of any of them. I appreciate your thoughts on Europeans and think that makes a lot of sense. It seems to me from what I read that Saulie would be a wonderful and exciting change for Adam and they seem so "right" together. I think Saulie is an absolute doll as is Adam and together they are two mucho gorgeous men. 8-)

Here's his reply: "Hate it. It's no If I Had You". Seriously, USA radio is the strangest "business" out there! I can't even imagine telling one of my customers that I "hate" something they have suggested. If I were in a similar situation and wasn't going to play the song, I would probably say something about it being "too long" or "doesn't quite work with our current playlist" or something. Do they honestly NOT consider the listeners to be their customers? I've been involved in my family's business my entire life and just cannot understand the logic used in running these radio companies. (My local top40 station doesn't seem to even TAKE requests so clearly they are uninterested in what the listeners would want.) Just catching up with this thread ----- ---- to commercial media companies, their customers are advertisers, their product is the audience -- that is all they have to sell. Not like a retail or manufacturing business.

Just read some of Adam's @replies to his latest tweet about his hand - oh boy! If he's reading them, he's probably LOL (or maybe shaking his head at a few of them).
Anywho...he's just about 850+ shy of having 960,000 Twitter followers! Unbelievable!

Edited for clarityWord to this. I don't see much of a difference either, certainly not from Drake. And I admit to bristling, whether intentional or not, at the subtle implication that butcher is better. Perhaps I'm misreading it but that's just sort of the vibe I get from it when it's put in a list of why Sauli is some sort of sign of Adam finding a "mature" boyfriend. I also have to say that I don't remember Drake ever being comfortable with PDA in front of the paps. And Brad never really had to deal with the paps while dating Adam so a PDA comparison is kind of silly. There's a huge difference with being publicly affectionate amongst friends and being affectionate in front of paps/strangers. Um isn't Drake the one that went and nudged Adam for a full on kiss in Adam's car right in front of the pap's camera? Don't know if he were trying to prove some or not but...um yeah, I think Adam's the one that don't like PDA's with his boyfriends. Interestingly, (to me at least) that publicly, Adam's really huggy, kissy, affectionate and flirty with a lot of his friends, but he likes to keep his dating life private, I'd say good for him, to not stifle a good thing.

(My local top40 station doesn't seem to even TAKE requests so clearly they are uninterested in what the listeners would want.) Some of these DJ's/PD's almost seem to be resentful of Adam's success. In my opinion, they sound bitter. Adam is charging forward against all odds. His success is gaining momentum with or without their approval, with or without their spins, and some people don't seem to like it one bit. ***Go Adam!!!!*** Obviously, not everyone has gotten the memo......resistance is futile!!!!!!!!!!! I really do not think this is the case. In fact, the vast majority of DJs and PDs have been very supportive of Adam. Regarding Aftermath Remix......some PDs will not even consider adding a song that hasn't gone for adds. RCA has not given Aftermath Remix an add date. They are not pushing it to the PDs. They just emailed it to stations. Look at the top 10 songs on Top 40/CHR Radio -- Aftermath Remix does not work that well with these songs.
