I was under the impression that they pushed wwfm to chr first (z100 add very early on) then to hac. Also I don't see the reasoning behind pushing trespassing to hac first. Yeah, they did push WWFM to CHR first. And, I agree  iihy too, I think. Adam has never (to my knowledge) made the jump from hac to chr successfully. btikm was the first time they tried it, and it didn't work. I guess this add was from an Adam supporting station about to host a concert, so it makes sense. |

This is the Clear Channel Adult Top 40 Station (HAC) in Dallas. I hope they push Trespassing to HAC and then to Pop/Top 40/CHR. It is the path that worked for WWFM. And is the radio format that supports Adam strongest. I think they should push Trespassing hard to CHR. This is a pop song, it should be played by top 40 stations. HAC can pick it up too, but Trespassing is a much different song than WWFM. This is just a matter of opinion and there is not absolute right strategy. Just posting my rationale for my hope. >> Note: Yes, Trespassing is a Pop song but what market will it and does Adam appeal to? They have been targeting adult women and LBGT audience -- a powerful combo.Top 40/CHR is not a genre based format -- these stations play hits. To get any meaningful airplay on these stations, PDs need to believe a song is a hit. You can convince a PD a song is a hit with... - Digital sales - Success on genre formats - The artist is a proven hit maker (Katy, Rhianna, Taylor, etc.) - For some hits stations, many songs are not added to their playlist until they are in the Top 20 on the Pop radio airplay chart. I think the easiest path for Trespassing is Adult Pop -- that is the audience where he has the most strength. (Same as Kelly Clarkson.) I would push it as Adult Top 40/HAC first and hardest. That means a combo of stations like Q102 Philly and KDMX in Dallas. Some are on the Mediabase HAC panel and some of these stations are on the Pop panel but they play Adult Pop music. I am not expecting the Clear Channel KISS format stations to play Trespassing. **** If they decide to push this to CHR stations --- I hope they have some KISS format and RHY leaning stations on board in advance. |

For all the people who whine about RCA and want Adam to be with UMG -- they are not doing so well with Idols. Now a new drop. Pia got 1 single, no promo and now she has been dropped. HAC is too slow and doesn't do as much for sales. I don't see Adam as an HAC artist at all! |

I had a fun experience yesterday -- I was paid to drive a couple of people around to look at possible locations for a movie that will be filmed by Mt. Rainier (big mountain and recreation area about 2 hours from Seattle where I live). Anyway, since I had them trapped in my car for hours, I decided they needed to hear some quality music and played some Trespassing, some GNT live and some Queenbert. The main person I was driving liked the music and said he would be looking up Adam and perhaps buying the album... One convert at a time, people! Of course, it always helps when they literally can't get away...LOL.

Does anyone think AI might be waiting until after the Dem's convention to make the official judges announcement?
I read somewhere that they might do that to get more attention for the story.

Pushing to HAC first hasn't been a path to success. The first time they tried this was with BTIKM, and it couldn't even break into the top 10. Adam's biggest hit was a CHR hit that crossed over.
And, I disagree Q3, I think there is no reason why the CLear Channel KISS format wouldn't play Trespassing. Do you really think KISS stations won't play the song???
Eta---Please RCA, if you do anything, get the song spinning on Z100!!
