So, at the risk of getting pelted with rotten tomatoes and other colorful memorabilia, I just got to ask: Why are we all voting on this Brian May thing?
Ok, so I have nothing against people wanting to do that because calling up web pages and hitting certain buttons is a hobby to them...I am all down with that, if that is what makes your day, go and vote away...
But as a support for Brian, I am sorry, I don't get that at all. Why?
I think the world of the man, think he is a great guitar player and a great person too, but who cares about Popcrush and Co, who just are out for hits.
With Adam it is a totally different story. If a radio station can bait me with offering 20 spins on radio, well of course I'll vote. Same with some web pages who can bring about publicity. Adam needs those spins and I am totally committed to doing what I can to give Adam radio spins or press coverage or public attention or whatever it takes to make both his music career and his life as a public figure flourish. Adam is at the beginning of his public career and I get why this stuff is important.
But Brian? Is this vote, whether he wins it or not going to move even a iota of his legacy one way or the other? Nope.
I also think that when it comes to guitar playing, there are a lot of other great guitarists out there. While I love Brian's ability to cover both rock as well as classical sounds with his guitar and make it sound like a banjo or violin or whatever, I have to say that I cannot really measure this against Jimmy Page who obviously is one of THE Greats in the world.
But ultimately, why does it matter?
