I bet Adam has lots of 'famous' friends,people who really like him and like to be with him.Maybe Adam's definition of friend is much more of an intimate,a tried and true friend that he spends time with, goes out with and totally trusts. I have read that San Sparrow thinks of Adam as a friend,Queen folks,Katy ,many who say Adam is their friend,in the Hollywood,entertainment type friend .I don't think Adam throws the word friend around lightly. When he says he doesn't think some famous people think of him as a friend,It makes me all sad inside. But there are friends(acquaintances) and then there are FRIENDS.JMHO. I think maybe he just didn't want to name drop..... He's friends with Anna Kendrick, we know that. He's friends with Katy Perry. He's friends with Sam Sparro and I'd guess Nile Rodgers considers Adam a Friend as does Brian and Roger from Queen. The Rove show was hysterical. My only "complaint" is the fan and the perpetual hope comment about Adam being straight. Do people really hope that Adam will suddenly become straight, even in a fantasy? if so why? he's fabulous just as he is. I know enough of that already... Fans love him for HIM. The one thing I wish Adam would stop doing is calling himself a fag..The LGBT community is trying to make that like the N word.. not out there. Especially for kids who are bullied with that word. I think he is trying to make it not important by using it..but I don't know.. It makes my back go up. |

I also don't think it has the same impact or meaning when he calls himself a fag as when someone else does so with malice or hatred. It's like when I say I'm a bitch...I can say that all day long but if someone else said it to me I'd be pissed. |

But historically, that is HOW you take back a word and make it that uncomfortable thing it is for outsiders.... Have you ever listened to the street talk of young African Americans...it is littered with the 'n' word...as is their music of choice.... we have to some degree become desensitized to that now but this is how it starts... Feminists of some stripes have tried to do that with our very own 'c'word but with somewhat less success because women are a much less homogenous group. Rappers like Minaj are doing it with "ho", Eve Ensler with 'c' but more successfully with vagina...see how much easier it is to use that word now....did not used to be... jmho eta....exactly frecklessexual |
